I had a "lively discussion"
this morning with a realtor about an ad his coworker had placed about where central phx is located. I had originally emailed this guy yesterday about his ad that he had the wrong cross roads listed. Great, he IM'd me this morning letting me know he had fixed it. Then I told him that I had emailed his coworker (same office) about an ad (it's now been deleted "by author" ). Basically he got all pissy about it and said it was subjective. What a jerk!!!He said 43rd ave and Bethany Home was in Central Phx (or close enough for him). I told him that he was being deceptive and he asked how is that being deceptive. I thought about the people who come here and ask for info on great places to live and we tell them a general area (by name usually), then they check places like CL and look up central phoenix and find his ad thinking it's where we told them to look. He mentioned that as long as he has the cross streets listed it's not being deceptive. I would have posted the link to the CL ad to show it, but like I said, it's been deleted already. Looking at other ads, it seems that a lot of realtors don't have a clue of what areas are called. That's unfortunate. I wish all new people to the valley good luck in finding a good realtor for their search. I don't know when realtors became as bad as car salesmen??? Now, I KNOW there are GOOD and GREAT realtors out there and I'm NOT trying to pick a fight with any of them here. I just wish more realtors would have some ethics and be good people. I'm going to be reactivating my RE license soon because I can't stand people being taken advantage of. ![]() |

Sounds like a stretch to me. I wouldn't classify anything west of I-17 as part of Central Phoenix.

He's clearly a liar by the way he was talking to me.

Playing devil's advocate...I can see how it is subjective.
If you were to take a map of Phoenix and pinpoint 43rd Ave and Bethany Home on it, it is pretty centralized on the map. I'm more with Silverbear on this one though, I consider Central Phx to be east of I-17 to about 24th st. |

Hey Sable
I've got your back on this one. That guy is totally being deceptive. Anything west of the 17 is not central Phoenix to me. And honestly, some of the areas that are east of the 17 yet border it like Dunlap and the 17 doesn't seem to be central Phoenix to me either. It's Phoenix but central Phoenix has always been downtown and north of it. Even honest realtors can be bothersome because they can be pushy and apply pressure when they sense they are about to close a deal. I can't say that I blame them which is why I'm going to get my own license It's the nature of their business. When it comes to dealing with sales professionals, I verify everything they say and do my research ahead of time. Your example is a reason why I think people should get their own real estate license. It's not expensive to acquire. They have evening courses and you can spread the degree out far enough to work and pursue the degree part time. Real estate is such a big part of living in Arizona and I want to be educated so that I can't be taken advantage of when it comes to real estate. I don't plan on selling real estate for a living but I would like the degree when I'm interested in purchasing or selling my own property. Sablebaby you are correct, and I liked your response.
I was under the impression the Central Corridor ran straight up Central ave from north of VanBuren and east to 7th St and west to 7th Ave and ended about Dunlap. Hmmm... ![]() |

OK:
Someone here give specific street names that gird 'central' Phoenix. Hell: I tend to really gig the Ahwatukee crowd from time to time by referring to their once over priced enclave as South Phoenix-----which, geographically it is. ![]() |
