You will get way more responses to this if you post a new thread instead of asking the question here. This thread doesn't get much traffic, and isn't really the best place for relocation topics. There are lots of threads on Mesa in the Phoenix forum, if you do a search.

While I'm at it, though, I'll tell you that the north part of Mesa has some very nice areas to live. Not a lot of night life in Mesa, except for events at the Mesa Arts Center downtown, but you are a light rail ride away from downtown Tempe, which has a bit more going on (and is not ALL ASU oriented -I'm 50 plus, too) and downtown Phoenix.

In general, the further away from the city probably the better.
As far as 50+ age group, when I think of retirement communities, Id always like to be at Pebble Creek but its was far on the west side from Mesa. Hopefully someone in the east valley can be of help.

A new restaurant /bar just opened in Mesa and is on Powere Road. The name of this place is Mo's On the Green. It overlooks a golf course. You will meet new people there...all ages.

Well I am back in this forum after a year of not visiting it and I can offer some perspective here. All the people who complain about heat in PHX probably don't know that there is worse weather than that. They should try living in Miami where humidity levels are insanely high along with temperatures in the 80s and 90s. Tomorrow the high in PHX is expected to be 90F, but it will most probably be dry heat. Not bad at all. After all, that's why they created something called air conditioning. In some ways I kind of want the heat to return, even though I have never been a hot weather lover That's the weird part, the fact that I want to see heat again for a while. It will come soon enough. Enjoy your warm weather tomorrow and a nice swim in the pool or where ever you may be. When I think about it, being able to sit in your back yard in December/January and have a cup of coffee is quite nice I must admit
