Default Can someone recommend a good water softener and R/O company

I want to buy a water softener and reverse osmosis system. Does anyone have a recommendation on what companies to call for quotes? Any experience using the system? Is it worth it? I got a quote from Kinetico but it was very high, about $5600. A few other quotes were something like $2500. I want to be sure to get a good quality system and need some help deciding!! thanks.

I'd have good results with Water Resources International:

Water Resources Intl.

I don't know about cost, though. My system was installed a long time ago, and I just use them for maintenance.

We bought our system several years ago from Spencer's Appliance. They are not the cheapest price but are far from the most expensive. The company they sent to install it and the one we use for our yearly maintenance is I believe called H2O Concepts. We have been very satisfied with the system and the companies involved.

Checkout Home Depot and Lowes as well. They usually sell for less than $1000 (water softener & RO system combined) and can be installed by any plumber who's done a water heater -- assuming you are already pre-plumbed for a water softener.

I would stay away from these small retail units as they are not optimum for a 4 person family in an average size home. We started with one of these small units and found it was not providing enough soft water to our household so when we tested the water it was still hard.

We priced the better units at Home Depot and they wanted from $2000-$5000 installed. I contacted Ecowater and they put in a very nice unit (2502 39) for $1000 which gives us great water.

We got our Ecowater system from All about water (EcoWater - Arizona) and are very happy.

I don't know who our R/O unit is from as it was installed by the builder.
