Drive across towns to go out to eat, shop, bars, clubbing, movie, etc..? like for instance, how often the people who does not reside in Scottsdale go to scottsdale?
If you lived in Gilbert, Chandler, would you drive to Scottsdale to have dinner at a good restaurant? go shopping at fashion square, etc.? Also, vice versa... or do people generally stay in their own town mostly... |

We used to live at 16th st and Greenway Parkway and would drive to the clubs in Scottsdale. Also for dinner at Carlsbad or Los Sombreros.
That was before gas prices were out of control - thankfully we moved to Scottsdale in 05 |

We definitely don't mind driving to try a new restaurant, but we have cut down on how often we do due to gas prices. Movies, drinks at a favorite local bar, and shopping are all convenient to us so we don't have to drive far for that.
For example, we're in the NW Valley and last night we traveled about 30 minutes to a fantastic restaurant that opened this week called Noca (32nd and E Camelback). (My Noca report): NOCA (phx) opening this week - Southwest - CHOW Last edited by Rubee; 08-03-2008 at 03:04 AM.. |

We tend to stay closer to home. Peoria has so many restaurants and they look just like the restaurants other cities have, so we stay put.

We hardly ever drive more than 4 miles to eat. We do go to Scottsdale every other month or so for clothes shopping.

That's good to hear because I am definitely noticing a trend around chicago suburbs that people just aren't going out as much anymore...like this morning at 10 am, walmart was dead and plenty of parking up front, this never ever happens...

We have really stopped driving too far for things that we can get within a couple of miles. I like Scottsdale, but not for it's shopping or restaurants. So, we don't don't go over there very often at all (bf still goes to the car show in Scottsdale on some Sat. nights).

Man oh man, you guys are all bunk but guess I can't really blame you guys! I currently live in the burbs of Chicago but regularly drive to the city to go visit friends and to eat at restaurants that only the city has to offer...yeah gas prices is high, yeah, economy is $hit but you know that's $60-$80...I need to be entertained or need to enjoy life a little! Of course if I was dik broke, I probably wouldn't regularly be doing it, but I'd still be doing it! I'm doing it and doing it and doing it well...
