I am from Grand Rapids, Michigan and I am considering moving to Phoenix next March or April. Just started looking around on this site and had some questions. First off, how is the economy down there? I know everyones suffering in the U.S. but from what I hear, its one of the best places in the United States for jobs. Also, I have read threads about the scorpions. Is this a major problem wherever you go? I am thinking about renting 2nd floor apartment and wasn't sure if it'd be a big factor or not. Also, as far as apartments, I was looking into the Villa Toscana apartments located at 10201 North 33rd Avenue in Phoenix. Does anybody know how these are or have heard anything about them or the area they are in? I am coming to check out the general Phoenix area in October, but would like to know if I should check out some other nice apartments, or if these were pretty decent, or possibly, if theyre not, if I should skip looking at them all together. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

That area isn't the best, it's close to MetroCenter, which is not the greatest place to be near. What price are you looking for for an apt?
Scorpions won't be everywhere. I have yet to live anywhere where I had them (good for 33 yrs living here). What industry are you in? I think our jobs are still around, but the economy is slumping, but it's still better than other areas. |

I don't know why everyone keeps thinkin that phoenix's economy and job market are oh so great? Then I realize that these guys are moving from MI, OH, IN, etc. etc....if you are coming from the el crapola city and state, yes its probably an improvement but if you are coming from NY, LA, MIA, CHI, hell I'll even throw dallas in there(any of the cities bigger than Phx), then its a dropoff.

Ok, then you could do worse than that area for sure for your price. Have you looked up any reviews of the place? That might be a good start, plus also crime stats may help.

500 a month is just an estimate, but prolly anywhere from 450-600 a month for a 1 bedroom. Haven't found any reviews, just looked for nice looking places on rent.com so far.

FYI, A really nice one bedroom here, in a safer area, would be at least $750+. |

It wouldn't necessarily have to be right in Phoenix either. As long as it was within a half hour-45 minute commute, I wouldn't mind.

I also just found a nice looking apartment complex called Fountains in the Green on North 14th Street. How are these and the neighborhood?
