Sheriff Joe is not responsible for the entire state of AZ, just Maricopa county and at least he is rounding up illegals. I give him credit. The Chiefs of police will still balk and stall and push it back on the Feds. Yes, crime is exploding but he is at least arresting the ones that he can. I like his tent city and tha fact that his "no kill" dog shelter is run out of the airconditioned jail.

Did you guys see the story about Sheriff Joe and his Goons (SWAT TEAM) that burned a house down and killed a dog cause they thought the people were dealing automatic weapons, apperently from the witness accounts, the swat team was laughing when the lady was crying cause the dog was dead.
I hate sheriff joe.

These (with the exception of one black male) are ALL white males, in their late 30's to 50's, and they will tell you that they make more money on the street than at a job. They will tell you that they are out here because it suits them. These homeless guys:
1)Do not have mental problems and they do not want to be a positive contributing member of society. Most of them have family in the area that want nothing to do with them because they want everything for free.
2)They've had a hard life....who hasn't? Who hasn't gone thru an abusive relationship or divorce or whatever? Give me a break. If people were homeless because of that, there'd more a lot more out there. And everyone of these guys have a sob story.
3)I do not have homeless anyone that was "born" into the lifestyle.
4) Battered and abused people have choices besides being homeless. There is real help out there but it does require a bit of work to get through it.
None of what you describe is the reason for those in my area being homeless. Most of them go to work (mostly day labor but it's still job) during the summer months because there are no tourists to beg from. Then they buy beer (and some do drugs) and drink until they pass out...and do it again tomorrow.
Not all homeless people are good people.

I can only speak from my own experience. Maybe you should enlighten us as to what you do with the homeless.

Joe may round up the illegals but he puts them in Jail...Saving us Nothing in the long run!! If they deserve to be in Jail...fine. If not then get rid of them..
I cannot support Sheriff Joe.
1. He is a media *****
2. Too old school...which is a nice way of saying Corrupt.
3. He tries to destroy anyone who opposes him politically. He is effective at smear campaigns.
4. New storm brewing. If you have visited Phoenix New Times (since 2004) then Joe has subpoenaed your info.
Joe wants your info!! Link to the story

Let me correct you just a little -
The MCSO deputies do take into custody illegal immigrants. They are detained for a short period of time then, they are turned over to ICE (Immigration) - usually within 24 hours. Deportation actions are then taken by ICE and most of those that were originally detained are deported to their country of origin - usually within 7 days.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's office does not "keep them in jail"
BTW, while you may not support Sheriff Arpaio, somewhere around 80+% of the citizens of the county and State of Arizona do support his efforts
