Well said. Sorry, apparently I've given you rep lately and it won't let me do it again so soon.

I guess it's.. just don't get caught? and if you do.. your now labeled a criminal and have no rights anymore? it only takes 1 time.. 1 mistake.. i bet you all have never done anything wrong. you are straight arrows right? some one who robs a store or rapes some one or something.. ya they have something wrong with them.. probably on drugs or mentally ill.. keep them out of society.. but why torture them? lets just lock them up.. give them no meds.. ****ty food and then release them 1 day and say good luck buddy (you have no family or friends except people you met while in jail? who cares your times up.. and next thing they know they are in down town phoenix with no money and no place to go.. what would you do?.. but you must go see your po the next day.. get to your drug test and goto counceling.. HOW?) and don't go there if you are on meds like xanax or anything.. you won't get it so your going to be in hell.. their reason for giving nothing is (this is jail if we helped you detox you would like being here and wouldn't recieve the punishment you need).. well that don't work.. detoxing is hard the hardest thing in your life .. if your not given anything.. along with that food even if you get out 4 months later you will still be sick and that will be the first thing you do when u get out just becuase you haven't slept more then a few hours in the last few months.. look up any detox for these and see how hard they are.. benzo (xanax, valium, klonopin etc) or opiate (herion, oxycotin, vicodin, etc).. you got caught so you must suffer now.. it does not work!

As for cell phone use being illegal while driving, what is your source? On ADOT's website, there is a law which states that bus drivers can't talk on a cell phone while driving. I also saw elsewhere that a law was passed this year banning text messaging while driving, and that there is going to be an initiative presented next year to only allow hands free cell phone use while driving. Nowhere do I see that it's illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving (though I wish it were).
Cardinals fan maybe? I can see where that definitely might mess with your head.

Physical withdrawal from opiates takes five days. A long time user of Valium going "cold turkey" is risking potentially life-threatening side effects. Same with alcoholics. Cannabis Sativa L, well depends on who you want to believe. It slows cognitive function and slows perception/reaction time. If you want to smoke a kilo in your apartment, knock yourself out. Just don't drive until you've stopped for a couple weeks. For males who are long time heavy users, the suppression of testosterone as well as possible increased levels of estrogen might be a problem. But then again, who isn't attracted to a guy with enlarged breasts?

It means in "the eyes of the law" you are not guilty. In no way does it make you innocent. Not Guilty means the jury wasn't positive you did it. Or your lawyer found a technical/procedural error. Or your initials are O.J.

For a first post, you sure wanted to ......????? I'm not quite sure of all the points you were trying to make.

BTW, the cell phone thing? Only in the City of Phoenix - and it is not a primary stop

BTW, did you know your "grandma driving" (slow) may also be illegal - yep, impeding traffic

And, that beer after work? Not illegal - Now, 10 beers and a BAC of .08 + might be

And, while 1 mph over is a violation, no citations will be issued for same

And ......

Could I ask that, in the future, you make smaller paragraphs? I'm not trying to be that critical but, it would be much easier to understand

Thanks

Thanks! It just adds to the number on the right top of your posts. It also adds to the green bricks. But the important thing (IMHO) is, it lets a person know you appreciate what they posted. I've even given rep points to people I disagree with when they have made a good point.

You know, I almost used him as an example too. I was certainly thinking of him when I typed my response.

What is a blunt? Am I the only one who hasn't heard of that term?

Who We Are

They don't make Hollywood motion pictures, or weekly television programs that glamorize our work. On the contrary, these mediums portray us as brutal, sadistic, and corrupt.

We get little or no respect. The news media doesn't even bother to get our job titles right, they just call us all "guards". We are NOT "guards"… guards watch over things that have value, such as school crosswalks, or gold bricks.

The pay is mediocre with the same government benefits you receive if you collect taxes, or work the window at the MVD.

We work in ugly places, with ugly people. The work is dangerous, and the hours are poor. Everyday, we face the risk of catching dangerous infectious diseases, being physically assaulted, or killed.

We still show up.

Regular folks don't notice us, most of the time they don't even realize we are there. Out of sight, out of mind. Most people don't go to the neighborhoods where we work. But the world is a safer place, because we are there… and we are there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. There are no holidays for us.

Our jobs are hard on our families. If we are lucky enough to be off to attend a family gathering, family or friends may ask us how our day was. Sometimes we can't tell, because the truth is too disgusting or scary to repeat during a family event.

A Police Officer interacts with regular people on the street. They can stop for coffee, flash their lights for a child, or wave at a friendly citizen as they pass by.

We interact with metal bars, Plexiglas, heavy steel doors… and people who are angry with us, just for doing a job.

What would Police Officers do, if they had nowhere to drop off those they apprehend?

The people in my line of work are some of the finest people I have ever known. Despite this, they are characterized by some as being cruel, vicious monsters. Quite the opposite, I have witnessed firsthand countless cases and could cite limitless examples of extreme patience, tact, tolerance, and restraint in the carrying out of their assigned duties.

Courage and selflessness are common traits in my brethren.

Have you hugged your Corrections Officer today?
Topjimmy, excellent post. Point for you!

AZLoafer and aj661, points for you also. I applaud you and all other people who have worked or are working in this career field. Whenever I see a police officer in a store, restaurant, gas station, etc, I personally walk up to them and tell them thanks for what they are doing. It's a tough job and very much appreciated. I think Joe is also just trying to do what is right, and I support his efforts. I feel bad for him and his family that they're having to deal with death threats.

On another point, I'm surprised that the mods haven't "controlled" this thread more since the rules are no personal attacks, hate speech, insults, etc (i.e. for example, a person calling Joe "an idiot".)
