First, and foremost - his no nosense approach to his department.

I like the Tent City idea. Again, the Sheriff was an innovator in this and other departments around the country are now doing the same

Making english language classes mandatory for non english inmates. He is not changing signs to multiple languages - inmates need to be able to read english so they can function in the jail enviornment

His chain gangs - inmates CLAMOR to get on them -

Love the pink underware - they have become collectors items

The Sheriff Possee - a group of very dedicated volunteers - and the Sheriff helps provide them with the equipment they need -

OK Greatday....what was meant was his efforts to control illegals from crossing the border. You knew that.
I agree with his work with animals. I don't care about the tents nor his silly pink underwear
The english classes are ok with me however, I do believe that classes of some sort(drug treatment and/or ged classes for some longer term people(I mean the people who have to sit in the jails until their trials, which can sometimes be up to a yr)

I also do not mind preventing sexual reading material to inmates.
However,they should be able to read something that family members can present to the staff at the jails for approval.

What I do care about is the fact that some people who have not even been sentenced have died and he seems very callous. In fact, he has bragged about "winning" when a family who has lost their loved one has brought a lawsuit against the dept.

No one is perfect but, I always try my best to see all sides before passing judgement.
The sheriff has accomplished some good things but, has ruined all of that with his overall " publicity seeking fake cowboy from NJ attitude."
No one least of all a public official should brag about winning when someone has died.

Oh and feeding inmates food that clearly says on the packages "not fit for human consumption" is a disgrace.

Hey, at least he is trying! Obviously, immigration issues are not a one man job. He is using ingenuity to try and make some sort of head way on a HUGE problem. Arizona citizens should feel grateful.

The problem is, he's not catching any of the illegal Canadians, Irish or Vietnamese. Apparently he is only worried about the great brown hoard from the south. What part of illegal don't YOU understand?

Sheriff Joe is anti-criminal . . . he's not particular where the criminal originated.

As I have posted many times before . . . the entire state as well as the country would be a much better place if there were more Sheriff Joes available.

Actually, that is not true.

There have been apprehensions of illegals from Thailand, China, Germany, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, Costa Rica, Venezula and others as well as Mexico

Permit me but, are you aware that 100's of MCSO deputies, including the Sheriff, are sworn Federal Officers. Therefore, they are allowed to arrest illegals, under the federal laws

Are you aware that the Arizona legislature passed tough laws relating to Human Smuggling? And that part of the illegal immigrant arrests are part of that law?

Are you aware that the Sheriff has established a good working relationship with ICE - and that the illegals his officers detain are turned over to ICE?

Are you aware that the City of Phoenix PD is now going to follow the lead of the MCSO and have many of their officers go through the Federal training to become sworn Federal officers and by doing so, the Phoenix PD (and other local law enforcement agenices) will also be in positions to arrest and detain illegal immigrants?

Were you aware of all of the above?

BTW, many of the illegals ARE the "bad guys" - drug smuggling, human smuggling, robberies, murders, assaults etc

Arrogant Law Enforcement Agencies "picking and choosing" which laws they prefer to enforce!
