This is an overstatement. The Phoenix PD is re-evaluating its policy of not sharing information about individuals' immigration status with ICE, but there is no plan for the Phoenix PD to engage in immigration law enforcement in the manner that the MSCO has attempted to do. The most likely outcome will be a policy that allows Phoenix police officers to share information with ICE when they believe it is appropriate to do so. There is no plan, however, for Phoenix PD officers to "arrest and detain illegal immigrants" unless those persons are being arrested and detained for another crime.

They just found a house that was a detainment house they said it was great having ICE involved because they could finger print the people and see who is who and it will be practicle to have ICE co mingled with the Phoenix police dept because they add their expertise to the police force to help combat the illegals

Are you aware that the Arizona legislature passed tough laws relating to Human Smuggling? And that part of the illegal immigrant arrests are part of that law?

Are you aware that the Sheriff has established a good working relationship with ICE - and that the illegals his officers detain are turned over to ICE?

Are you aware that the City of Phoenix PD is now going to follow the lead of the MCSO and have many of their officers go through the Federal training to become sworn Federal officers and by doing so, the Phoenix PD (and other local law enforcement agenices) will also be in positions to arrest and detain illegal immigrants?

Were you aware of all of the above?
I was and I am in Idaho it was on our news last night about the Phoenix pd and ICE. Greta news for AZ....

Patteejr is on a distinguished road
arizona people should be very afraid - one of his deputies pulled over a mexican because he had a cracked windshield - i used a faded and practically out of state drivers license to come back across the border and not one question was even asked - good thing i don't look like a mexican - one of joe's deputies would have had a hay day with that I.D. -

Not necessarily, Patteejr

Immigration Officers at the Border as well as at Airports consider more than a simple ID when admitting someone.

"practically out of state"?

Are Mexicans exempt from the law requiring an adequate windshield? I think a more accurate statement would be the officer pulled over a car with a cracked windshield that happened to be driven by a Mexican.

Anyhow, why IS the crime rate so high in Phoenix, and Arizona in general? Arizona's murder rate, for example, is MUCH higher than the national average, and is one of the highest in the nation. Why doesn't 'Sheriff Joe' crack down on crime? Why is he so soft on crime, as evidenced by the high crime rates? Remember, being 'hard on CRIME' may require a lot more than merely being hard on some CRIMINALS who happen to be captured. Being hard on CRIME, as opposed to merely the criminals your department is able to catch, means reducing crime rates and making the whole city safe at all hours of the night.

It's hard to keep track of undocumented people and it's not only the Sheriffs fault. Maybe Napi should do something about it too.
