PAY ATTENTION people and get that useless fool out of office and get someone who will do something useful to enforce all the laws for all the people of Maricopa county.

Despite the appearance of him doing "Good" by his rounding up of illegals he has done more damage by violating the civil rights of many legal and law abiding US citizens. Trust me....the lawsuits are coming and it is going to get ugly. To be arrested, detained, and have your legal status questioned over a broken tailgate is clearly an abuse of power...

Would not be surprised if the FBI follows Mayor Gordon's advise and conducts an investigation...

Regardless of the final outcome...it is going to be very....very costly to the tax payers of Maricopa county...Approaching records judgments I suspect...

The people criticizing Sheriff Joe are probably the "open-border" advocates. The illegal-alien proponents consist mainly of the progressive liberal persuasion.
Sheriff Joe is doing what the majority of Arizona citizens want him to do: rid the State of people who have no right to be in the United States. Let them go home, then apply for citizenship in order to return. Let's keep it legal.

Not at all. I'm 100% against illegal immigration. And I'm not against a lot of the stuff he does. It's not always a bad thing to drum up some publicity.

At the same time, however, he's often let his approval rating and ego get the best of him. Good leaders know when to speak, but also when to shut up.

If a local media outlet doesn't play ball with his office, for example, he shuts them out. He's been sued by and lost to several newspapers who he denied access to public records. Those spats cost us money. He's currently in a spat with one of the major TV stations and has ordered that any routine information they seek must go through an expensive law firm... despite him having a cadre of taxpayer funded PIOs. That costs us more money. He was involved with the arrest of the publisher and editor of New Times and sought the web history of everyone who has ever visited one of their news sites. That's going to cost us a lot of money.

I'm all for arresting those who are dangerous felons and illegals, but I have a big problem with his selective treatment and intimidation of the press. The press can be annoying, show bias, and be wrong from time to time... not to mention idiots. But they are also fundamental to our democracy, part of the grand checks and balances envisioned by our founders. In fact they are the only business singled out and protected by the constitution. Probably every President has wished for a world without the press, but they learned to live with it. Joe hasn't.

There's a fine line between enforcing the law and thinking you are above it. He's really pushed the boundaries and has crossed them enough times that any serious citizen needs to call him on it and keep things balanced. It's times like this when standards trump emotional puffery. I'm not saying he should be replaced... but restrained or be better advised would help.

There is a reason the Justice Dept. (FBI) in investigating the validity of some of the claims brought by the Mayor of Phoenix.

If you rape or murder someone , you may get 5-6 years , or perhaps if the circumstances were a bit extreme , perhaps 10 years. However if you are caught cheating our Welfare State out of some of the money you dishonestly did not disclose on your tax declaration , then it's 15 to 20 years in prison. Don't believe me ?
