The light-rail train will not be up and running for some time yet, and when it is operating it will not pickup anyone from the outlining communities for years to come. The first location from what I’ve heard was the shopping center at 19th Ave & Bethany Rd. So I guess those living in the far outside valley areas will continue to drive into Phoenix for anything they need in the downtown area.
Not to worry because the first year they open they are only taking 7 students. How dumb.

I understand that downtown Phoenix will have some schooling for the University dealing with some bio-med classes that will be starting up soon, but that location as well is more then an hour from El Mirage and Surprise.

Would it be a good idea to think about renting an apartment near the location of the school until he completes those classes, then find out what hospital he’ll be doing his internship at, before getting into a home that far away from his needs?
We cant rent have to buy. I have several animals. I would of prefered buying a condo.

I wouldn't go to El Mirage, not a very good area. Plus, as others have stated, the commute to anywhere would be very long. Depending on where your husband will be having to commute to, maybe check out some areas in the east valley (might be closer).

If someone applies to med school, don't they usually apply all over the country and not just where they live, due to the competition? Wouldn't it be better for him to apply before moving out here to see where he needs to go?

That is the right thing to do = come have a look. I lived in a mobile with my family when I was in college in Tucson. It was small and all my neighbors were like 80 years old. One of them was a retired engineer who helped me in calculus. I had a fear of math back then. I ended up enjoying math and getting A's in all the higher math courses. I might have quit engineering and gone into accounting or something if not for that guy. Looking back, I had some of my best days in that mobile home park among the retirees. As long as your neighborhood is reasonably safe, it makes sense to go minimal until his studies are complete and you decide where you are going work etc.

Default Midwestern University has a Medical School

Hello -- Midwestern University has a campus in both Downers Grove, Il and Glendale, AZ. The Glendale campus offers degrees in Osteopathic Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dental Medicine, among other majors. The website is: www.midwestern.edu . Glendale is a suburb of Phoenix and Downers Grove is a suburb of Chicago. Good luck!

Thank You . I think my husband looked into that school in Glendale, was too expensive. We are paying cash as he goes. So have to be careful where he applies.
