Is there anyone who has not yet seen this road sign:
As much as I have been enjoying this Jerry Springer-like discussion, you all need to realize those who are obeying the posted speed limits are not the slowpokes that you hate but on the same token not everyone who likes to stretch that posted speed limit by going 5-10 over is a speedfreak who is aggressive or changes lanes like a maniac, cutting through everyone else, etc.
You all need to realize that there is a possibility that while arguing with each other like the other party is the one that drives you nuts on the road everyday is a completely different type of animal who is probably neither one of you.
I do notice the moronic drives but from what I realize, those moronic drives that everyone is raving about whether he/she is driving way too slow or fast are only about 10%-20% of the drivers out there. Most, imho, are at least OK drivers and another 10%-20% is exceptional good such as myself....ehem.
A voice of reason from the Turk Man. Jerry Springer - hah!
Well, Valley Native, perhaps you do not know better. But there are people in this country who DO USE turn signals and take cutting one off and tailgaiting seriously.
When did I ever say anything about using turn signals, cutting someone off, or tailgating? Now that you brought this up, I actually do take those kinds of road maneuvers seriously. I always use my turn signal, I don't cut people off, and I despise tailgaters (especially when I'm in the right lane).
You, on the other hand, started this thread as what I consider nothing more than venting on your part. You make generalizations by labeling Phoenix drivers as "idiots" and "morons". Trust me, there are bad drivers in many other places besides Phoenix. Unfortunately, your attitude is typical of many transplants: they like the sunshine, the scenery, etc. ... but they constantly whine about practially everything else, especially how terrible the drivers are and how bad the traffic is. Everybody has to be just like you, otherwise they're "idiots".
Perhaps if you learned a little about Arizona before you arrived here, your attitidue would be different. We have good highways, and good weather conditions most of the time. Unlike dreary places like Minnesota, our conditions allow for faster driving that isn't unsafe. Maybe you should just use the slower surface streets for your commutes ... or relocate somewhere else where the drivers are "perfect" like you.
Well I'm a transplant as I'm sure most people are that live in Phoenix and vicinity!!!!!!
But I know what you mean about venting over these little things. I probably do my share of complaining too but dumb people in traffic is a minor thing to worry about or start a thread about.
movin'on ----
I''m sure you do things in traffic from time to time that other people might call idiotic or stupid.
People turn in front of me and cut me off too. Hey it happens to all of us!!!!!! I'm probably not a perfect driver either. Who is?????? Get over yourself for christ's sake!!!!!
Trust me, there are bad drivers in many other places besides Phoenix.
I agree.
Driven in South Florida lately? movin'on, if you think Phoenix is bad, come to Miami and drive through Hialeah. You'll be lucky if you dont hit something or someone. And thats not even on the highway. And as for speed, Atlanta has some of the fastest drivers I've ever seen (I lived there 4 years). 85-90 in the expressways where the limits 65. So while Phoenix may have some bad drivers, there are places that are much worse. It comes with a big city. Get used to it.

Hey did you know all those bad drivers here in AZ are from somewhere else, bringing their bad driving habits with them. Did you know that they probably were run out of their own state because of those bad habits and ended up here in AZ where they could join their own kind that migrated here.
Somehow word needs to spread that AZ is not the congregating area for idiot drivers and that they need to move back to where they originated from. Like CA and all those other crazy driver cities. Maybe they could all be rounded up and sent to a place they could all enjoy, like Siberia, where they could mingle together and be happy with their stupid driving habits irritating each other.
Pinch me, am I dreaming...

I don't know, nitram, if we dare offend any new transplants in a down housing economy. I say we invite 'em with open arms:
"RETIRE TO ARIZONA - THE BUICK STOPS HERE!" (That should entice the over 70 crowd that drives 40 in the 60.)
"MOVE TO PHOENIX - HOME OF FAST WOMEN AND FASTER CARS" (There, that should draw the over 40 Corvette/Escalade drivin' crowd that wish they were hot 25 yr olds again.)

Well, here is your first erroneous assumption. There is very little I like about Phoenix. My former employer has operations down here and that is why I came here in large part. You mention MN. I lived in CA for 13 years and can definitely say they are better drivers, both in SoCal and the Bay Area, as I lived in both areas for a considerable amount of time.
I am sorry you are so defensive, but I think I hit a nerve.

The one accident I ever had that was my fault was 33 years ago. My driving record is clean.
