Do you like driving? And I don't mean driving as if you're flying down an open road with the stereo blaring great songs. Nor do I mean driving in the sense of shifting gears and feeling the rumble of your fine tuned engine. I'm talking about driving 22 on a road meant for 65, with a jacked up truck on your left burning oil with the pipe aimed at your face, or the teens on your right in the suped up 84 integra, a $2000 car with $3000 worth of bass speakers pounding out the beat to your afternoon.

Really, if you want to get a bigger house for lower cost, be sure to check out North Phoneix, etc.

couldn't agree more with that - sounds like a really bad idea - if you are working north why go to the far south? - would be better of in the N or NW Valley

That's a HECK of a commute from Casa Grande. Tho that said, one woman i work with commutes from Casa Grande to our office at Scottsdale & Camelback. I would never drive that far, but apparently there are some who will.

You are not going to find prices in N. Phoenix like you will in the other places. Maybe you can stumble across a trashed foreclosure, but otherwise, it's drive - and it will be brutal - or settle for something a lot smaller/older/not so nice a neighborhood. Anyway, of the three you mention, I'd pick CG for the commute. It's going to be freeway most/all the way and the freeway moves along albeit slowly, which beats traffic lights and gear jamming on the side streets. Another choice would be the Surprise area. Surprise is pretty cheap. You'd take the 101 into Scottsdale. At least with Surprise, you are at the same latitude as Scottsdale.

How much are you trying to spend for a house?

I'm with the others, I wouldn't do that kind of commute in a MILLION years. The biggest problem is that you have to drive THROUGH the city to get to work and back. It's not like driving 40 miles or more through open pastures.

IMO, life is too short for that kind of stress. No house is worth it. I'd live in apt in N. Scottsdale before I'd buy in those areas - in a heartbeat!!

Do you already live here?
