Then you haven't looked. Construction and landscape companies were full of them in Arizona. They would work for low-ball wages which drove down wages for American workers who were now forced to work at under $10/hour. Imagine that, construction jobs in this climate for under $10/hour. There becomes a point at where it's more cost effective to stay home and collect unemployment than get heat stroke all day working for peanuts. Meanwhile, the construction companies were raking in profits like never before. It was pure greed fueled by illegal immigration.

Yes and the quality of work was for the most part lousey. Many of the cookie cutter homes now foreclosed or never sold and standing empty are pieces of crap. I was once heard someone refer to these subdivisions as instant ghettos. I could not agree more.

There we go, that's the part i was trying to understand. Isn't this a rotating thing? I know Irish had a hard time when they first came here, legal or not. People paying a group of people, low wages, to do hard labor never changes in this country. It isn't right, but until robots are highly invested into, we will always have this problem in the united states.

The Mexican govt knows this, the more Social Services they can get these migrants on here in the US means less money out of their pocket to live, leaving more to send back as remissions. Mexico has a welfare program for their poor, it's called the US.

1AngryTaxPayer....So true! Like it was mentioned, the work done by these non-educated, non-experienced laborers is horrible! We live in a Lennar home in SoCal and the workmanship is absolutely pathetic. While we were observing the remainder of the housing tract being built, who do you think the workers were! Everytime we needed something fixed under our new home warranty...who showed up! It was a great experience trying to explain what we wanted fixed and what we were unhappy with. I absolutely refuse to learn to speak Spanish. But Lennar got their money and we're stuck with a house that keeps depreciating. I don't think this so called bail out is going to help any of us middle class fools.

Huge difference there: most of the immigrants in the history of the USA were legal----------till just the last 30 years or so.

and most of our ancesters, Irish, Italian, Korean, whatever came here through the right channels, worked hard to becomre part of what America stands for, they did not receive SS, welfare, food stamps or any such thing, even the handful that came ilegally. they would have starved to death before asking for a handout...They learned to speak English as soon as they could, applied for citizenship and taught their kids to respect America and the American flag.

First you have the "Patriot Act", DUI checkpoints, then raids like these...that's how it starts...next "true" Americans are being stopped, frisked, questioned for no apparent reason...homes are being searched - no need for search warrants anymore...computer chips are implanted to track your every move...
It's all very subtle...do you want to live in a "US" like the above? If you support these raids you support a non-American way of life...

It bothers me slightly when I do my volunteer job and ask for IDs and I am presented with a slew of AHCCCS cards for their kids with parents who have no SS#. However, I'll tell you what bothers me even more - this illegal war in Iraq and the bloodshed and my tax dollars going to support it.
I would choose to support life and healthcare rather than death and destruction with my tax dollars.
