Really? McDonalds, BK, Taco Bell, etc? Basha's Food City chain? The Ranch Markets chain? How about all the hotel chains?
C'mon. If he really wanted to take on the issue, he could shut down most of the resorts and big name restaurants in town. Not to mention half the companies that have construction contracts with most of the local govts.
He's really just another politician pandering for votes. Except in his case, he's exceeded his powers on many occasions but gets forgiven by his his many fans.

I'd rather have illegals making candles than a govt. employee using his power to retaliate against the press. The founders of this country knew the importance of a free press - enough to protect it in the 1st Amendment.
Do you realize how stupied he made Phoenix look to the nation when he arrested the publisher and editor of the New Times in the middle of the night? Or is it ok for him to cut off information to KPNX, the Tucson Citizen, West Valley View Newspapers and anyone else who dares question his dept. - which is in fact the public's dept. and by law is subject to media scrutiny.
Again, I'm not saying ignore illegals. But surely we can find a sherrif who is both tough on crime and also without an ego the size of the 75,000 outstanding criminal warrants he's not going after while raiding candle companies.

I do not agree with everything Sherriff Joe does, but Illegals are a huge problem. I don't really feel that much has been done by anyone but him. The other politicians talk about it, thats all. I cringe everytime I hear people complain about illegals being arrested. We are all complaining here, what is the solution?? I know that when I go through a drive through and order food, do you know how often I have been given the wrong change. THAT P***** me off. Not to mention how the kids are getting less of an education because of the illegals. Things need to change, but they won't.

We can only Hope and Pray, Luckyrooster.
I know what you mean concerning the stupidity of so many kids nowadays. Especially basic English and, as you addressed, simple math such as calculating change for a dollar.
What kind of future could these kids possibly have?

Yesterday I had a diagnostic test done at a private facility that I've used for years. We have Blue Cross PPO, which my husband pays for dearly every month, greater than $600. for a family of four and he has a city job. I walked into a waiting room full of hispanics with small children running all over the place. Upon listening to the clerks speak with everyone in Spanish, I realized the facility was now contracted with a HMO that is contracted with medi-cal (CA medicaid). Upon ck'ing in, the clerk asked for my insurance card and my drivers license, as a picture ID. I was sitting next to the clerks window so I was able to observe the clerk asking the other patients for their ID's. In the hour and a half that I waited for my exam, not one produced an ID. Everyone stated they didn't have one. Now how much do you want to bet that if I was unable to present an ID with my Blue Cross that I would have had to re-sch until I could produce one.

Side note here:
As the economy deteriorates; I strongly suspect that Sheriff Joe's job will become easier in the apprehension/deportation of illegal immigrants as well as the specter of many employers who knowingly hire same being in hot water as well.
