Default John Long Homes

Can anyone give me some advice on these 1950's built homes. There seems to be hundreds if not, thousands of them in Phoenix. What shoud I look for? Are the roofs plywood, or 1 x 6? How about the sewer lines?
Thanks to all.......

I grew up in one in the NE valley, just north of the PV Mall. It was built in 1978 though. IT was a sturdy block home.

If you're interested in the history of John F Long and his homes then read this:John F. Long (broken link)
And yes they are on sewers, and yes they had plywood roofs.

Smile John F Long SLUMS!!!

The John F Long homes of the 60's and 70's are not very highly esteemed in Phoenix they are almost like slums. the biggest developement he made was MARYVALE what is now a bad area of Phoenix. These homes are cheaply made and a lot and I mean a lot of them are run down.

Wrong;

The homes themselves are excellent, actually. Solid construction.
I'm guessing you'd call today's homes well constructed, then?

And Maryvale has not ALWAYS been a bad area. It once was quite nice, it seems. Don't blame him for his failure, either. He's not responsible.

RIP John!

GoodEgg is on a distinguished road
Don't blame the builder for owner neglect! John F. Long built a lot of homes and has a lot of happy owners who do take pride in their homes. If they were so "poorly" constructed...they wouldn't be standing after some 50+ years.
