So where are the best dive diners in Phoenix?
I miss these bits of Americana. Seems to me most diners that try to capture that aura of the old school, train car-style diner fail miserably and usually charge too much in doing so. Silver Diner is the WORST among those. Where are the best diners here?
The ones I've been to that I'd recommend are the Black Bear Diner at I-17 and Bell and the Cowboy Cafe in Wickenburg.

You have been to Crazy Otto's?
Fleming's is not a diner. Richardson is New Mexican and not a diner.

Sounds like you got lost in translation. I don't think these would be considered diners.....but that is just my opinion.
I have tried Black Bear Diner and I think it is pretty decent. The service has always been above average, friendly and efficient. The prices are good for the amount of food you get. I usually have to share.
Here are a couple of other ones I have not been to but the reviews seem good:
Welcome Diner
924 E. Roosevelt St.
Phoenix, 85006
Matt's Big Breakfast
801 N 1st St
Phoenix, AZ 85004

TJ's in Avondale has AWESOME breakfast. They are tiny, right across the street from the highschool, and next door to a vacuum/sewing machine repair shop. Unless you grew up in the far west side of town, you'd never know they exist, but the service is usually good, the portions are huge (and great tasting) and the prices are cheap. Lunch and dinner is good there too, but breakfast can't be beat!!
And, Matt's Big Breakfast as mentioned above, is also very good. That was one of my frequents when I worked downtown, and decided to disappear from my office for an hour or so in the morning.
Dolly's is a little joint in far West Phoenix (west of the 101 on Indian School) They were a little greasy for my liking, but my kids, my husband and all his friends loved it. Varied menu, family owned, and out of the way.

They used to be really good! Now it's hit and miss. It really depends if the cook is good and if the manager is good. We were friends with the manager at the PV one and it was the best place around, but after he quit it went down hill a bit. Though it's a bit better than the Deer Valley one. We never liked the Arrowhead diner. My bf goes to the Scottsdale one on Saturday nights when he goes to the car show.
