those of you that work from home...
...what do you do for work? I've read a lot of posts on here where a lot of posters on here have stated that they work from home. what kind of jobs are there in the Phoenix area that you can work from home?

I'm not in Phoenix, but I'll chime in anyway. I work for a health insurance company processing claims. Technically, my office is in Baltimore (where I moved from). I've been working as a telecommuter for about 4 years now.
I'm not sure how all companies do it, but my company only allows a certain number of telecommuters and you have to have been working there a number of years, meet certain QA standards, etc.
I would caution, though to be weary of a lot of ads online and in papers offering "work at home" jobs. A lot of them sound really sketchy.

I work for a bank in commercial lending. We just "officially" rolled out telecommuting this year, tho we had been sporadically doing it for a couple. My sister who also works from home works for IBM.

work at home
I do data entry. I'm not in the Phoenix area any longer as of recently, but I have heard that U-Haul( I think on the u-haul jobs page if I remember correctly, you have to put in the search, e-ticket hotline) and 1 800 flowers hires from home. There is a site called workplacelikehome for home workers and people looking for home. Some good ideas there and links.
Note, that I dont work for either of the above mentioned companies.

I have a collectors(dolls) business online. I also have a online garage sale site on ebay for extra cash.
There is all kinds of stuff you can do on these computers besides waste away on forums. But, you get attached. lol

technical support for a computer peripherals company. They are testing it out for corporate to see how things go. If things go well, most of the call center should be people working from home.

I'm in sales for a news agency. I put in six yrs. in the DC office and really wanted to move out here. In DC I had to be in the office every day. Fortunately, the company closed the Phoenix office two yrs. ago, so I can only work from home here. I need to find a side job though, as I get my work done for the week by about Wednesday.
