Hi all!
Have been in the area now for 4 1/2 months and am trying to get all of our doctors and such lined up. Getting ready to expand our family and am looking for a good midwife. I have seen tons of their websites online, but am having trouble finding one that does hospital water births. Most just do the homebirth thing, which frankly scares me. I know LOTS of people do it, but just for my own peace of mind I would like to be close to an OR if necessary. Someone told me that St. Joseph's has a 'birthing center', but I can't find it on their website. Does anyone here have any recommendations for a good midwife that will do a hospital birth and a good hospital that allows water births?? |

I actually found them awhile ago, but they are not doing births at their center anymore according to their website. This is really weird to me. For a city this size I would think there would be more birthing options than there seem to be. Back in Nashville Vanderbilt had a whole women's clinic with midwives and water birthing facilities, etc. Guess I'll keep checking around....
Thanks for your response though. |

It was the only midwifery I could think of, off the top of my head. Good luck! If I can find another one I will respond.....

Maybe google NP's/Arizona and contact the Nurse Midwives listed and ask them for referral for what you need. Or, try phoning hospital's for their maternity service departments and ask directly at hospital if any NP midwives do what you are looking for. Or directors of nursing at hospitals might help you.Good luck.

Thanks for the responses ladies! I have called two midwife centers and they both told me the hospitals will only let you labor in the tubs not birth.
I really, really don't want to have a baby in the living room. Gotta keep looking I suppose. |
