Does anyone have any insight into this community? I'd be working in Phoenix and I'm used to a commute coming from Chicago. It seems like a very nice community and I saw a rental for under 1200 at a very nice sized home.

The commute is not the problem....the problem is if you want to buy anything other than food or go to a movie, or just about anything else you have a 30 minute drive to the closest place. Rancho el Dorado if fairly nice, but if you are asking opinions I would get a smaller house in the Phoenix Metro area....Chandler may be a better choice. There are nice areas in Mesa, and Mesa tends to be cheaper than other areas.

You can probably find a rental home for that price in the east valley, just as nice; so why rent in maricopa and having to put up w/ the commute?

the villages are very nice. It is loaded with amenities, but I'm not sure if they would convey to a renter. it is in prime location to be close to the grocery stores, restaurants, etc.

The amenities they offer that i know of are pool(s?), fitness center, community center... i know there is more but i'm drawing a blank.

I would certainly consider a house in there. its a nice area.

I agree with the commute. I have co-workers who hates the commute from Maricopa to Phoenix. Not the same if u want to compare the chicago commute. traffic starts very early here

Sounds like you are doing your homework! Good for you.

The Villages is a very nice community.

The commute can be a little rough, but would be less than what you do now in Chicago -- probably right around an hour to get to central Phoenix during rush hour. A little less if you are going to Chandler/Tempe/Mesa.

You could probably even find what you are looking for in Maricopa, for less than $1200. $1200 would be an average price for a nice 3B/2B (or greater) house in Chandler!

The community amenities should be included in your rent. If not, then find another rental -- since the owner has to pay the HOA fees anyway, why not let you take advantage of the amenities?
