PHX Coffee
Hey all -
Moved to north Central Phoenix this past July (7th St./Thunderbird). I'm enjoying it so far, but one aspect I miss of living in a college town is the abundance of coffee shops (chain and independent) that either stay open late and/or are open 24 hours. Does anyone know any good coffee shops in the Phoenix/Glendale area (not Tempe, Mesa, etc.) that are open late?

You're close enough to see if Crescendo is still in business (Coral Gables/7th St).
I haven't been in 10 years but they had live music most nights of the week, super comfy couches, a mini library and all sorts of table games - upscale.
Willow House (149 W Mcdowell Rd) was on the way home from shows (open til 12 or 1) and
Cabin Coffee (Happy Valley/67th Ave) was my after work or bike ride in the evening spot.

Willow House has been replaced by Hob Nobs. I don't know the hours of the new place.
Here's a list of late-night coffee places from the Arizona Coffee site, although it's geared mostly toward Tempe:

Xtreme Bean on Southern & McClintock is open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday night. Also live entertainment there some nights.

Not N Phx but try Mama Java's on E Indian School/36th St.
And there is Copper Star Coffee on 7th Ave. just N of Indian School; although I am not sure of their hours.

I would also add Gold Bar-- not 24/7 but a really cool coffee shop/bar in a strip mall, NE corner of Southern & McClintock, next to Bashas. Once they had a full blown outdoor jazz concert going on in the parking lot!
If you notice a lot of coffee shop places repeatedly coming up in Tempe-- it's because Tempe is the coffee shop mecca of greater Phoenix-- actually the whole southwest.

My fave is Next Coffee Company. It's a little far for you at the 101 and 59th ave. But, I love their coffee and lattes! I believe it's the largest coffee house in the state or city, can't remember.
