Except with hiring freezes and inevitable PD cuts in several municipalities (including Phoenix, Mesa), those donuts may grow stale.
I remember a Seinfeld episode when George and Jerry were in an LAPD cruiser on the way to rescue Kramer from a false accusation after he moved to Los Angeles:
George: There's a bag of Pepperidge Farm cookies up there.
Jerry: What kind?
George: Milano.
Jerry: Cops eating Milanos, what kind of crazy town is this?

Both actually! Hard to grow up in Arizona and not have work at one or the other or at least somewhere similar. I will probably get one of my second jobs there this year. That's what happens to washed up musicians in this economy. Encourage attending college, not playing in a band at college bars and parties, and you won't end up knowing what its like working at a donut or coffee shop, or god forbid, Wal-Martian.

DD loyalists will be happy, and maybe I will stop in for a jumbo coffee. But those fluorescent lights at some (all?) locations will ensure that my visit is brief, unlike the coffee shops where I buy a couple of drinks, surf the web, meet up with folks, etc.

I think Starbucks has had some problems with expanding too fast nationally that are now trickling down to Phoenix. Probably long term there will be a market for DD and other chains; the population here is still growing. I have fond memories of the 11pm coffee and donut run during college in St. Louis, to keep me going for 3 more hours. High fat, high sugar donuts are pretty much the worst food you can eat, but somehow they did help me get a lot of papers written.
This reminds me. I'm going to go out and get me a frappucino. See ya' later!

This is horrible news! DD are around every corner in Rhode Island. They cause traffic jams because of the drive-thru's. People get so hooked on that crap. Dunkin Donuts is so low class, and these people that drink these quart-size coffees..its disgusting!

Starbucks is closing only one store in Arizona -
And, what do you have against large size coffees?
