Having a difficult time finding a job here?
Boy, I have never seen the job market like this before. It used to be fairly easy to land a $40-$50K a year job. Now, they seem non-existent. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Yes. I am in between cities currently. Working in California 3 or 4 days a week and flying back home to Surprise for the remainder of the week. We bought a home before getting a job. Big mistake. We love our home and in all fairness I love my current employer. Now home prices in our former city have declined to the point that we may be able to buy a home there if we would had waited. But then those homes are 40 or 50 years old and the home in Surprise is new. I have had quite a few recent interview in the area that seem to look very good. Also I am working on completing the requirements for my CPA. Fortunatly the rules are the same in both states and Arizona will recognize my California certification. If things don't change I plan on building a firm in the Phoenix area and eventually leave my California job. Either way with a job in the Phoenix area or continuing my current schedule I will finish my CPA requirements and proceed from that point.
I am not sure if this is a local problem as many in the country are facing the same issues. I know that both Arizona and California are having issues with this.

I was having this problem until, well, Wednesday, when exactly that type of job fell into my lap. I had been looking for about 2 months, and noticed early on that there were not terribly many of those jobs posted on the major boards to begin with. (there were normally high 20's and then 80+).
As soon as the economy started going sideways, those jobs went from not too common to non-existent. Looking at job boards lately, its pretty terrible. I have noticed quite a few more behavioral health positions available out there, though.
Long winded way of saying yeah, I was having that problem.

Can you guys please share where you're looking for jobs? I am searching the usual sites (Careerbuilder, Monster, Indeed, and company sites), but can't find much. I can't even find a good recruiter. I'm looking for something non-sales in financial services. I have a BS in Business Admin, an AA in Accounting and my series 7 and 66 licenses. I am looking for a $65-70k job. Am I aiming too high? I am considering giving up the licenses just so I can move.

when i first moved here 3 years ago i had pitted companies against each other and cherry picked the best deal. I had one place offering a sweeter and sweeter deal up to a year after my interview. I settled in a good job that i like. I moved here on a Friday, set up 6 interviews for the following Monday and was employed by 11am.
I was curious the other day so decided to see what was available so i checked out the online sites. there were quite a few positions still available, but no employers appeared to have the level of desperation they did 3 years ago.

And competition is fierce, even for jobs in the service industry. It's a jungle out there. Good luck, here's a hug

If you work in IT I can recommend some good agencies. The salary range you referenced is kind of low but I don't know what field you're in.

Jobing.com is a good career site for the Phoenix area. I used it to find my first job in Arizona!

The staffing agencies in Arizona suck!!!
When I was in CA, those people would call me almost everyday with jobs; these folks get all your information then basically sit on their ass and do nothing.
There are no jobs in AZ, that's the problem.
I have been working for 20 years and have never had a problem getting a good paying job til I moved here.
I love the ads "Must have BA, must have 5+ years experience, must be proficient in every software known to mankind ---- will pay you $10 hr!!!"
F$CK YOU!
I would move today if I could sell my house w/o totally screwing myself up.
