I wish it were just your random teenage prank. Of course, that doesn't mean they should get off easy. New Hampshire has the time-honored tradition of shooting kids like that with a shotgun loaded with rock salt--preferably in the rear end. Maybe we should bring that custom to Arizona. And to Glendale Calif. for that matter.

Speaking from experience, not everyone singles out houses for egging, usually its just random, you find a good house in a dark area and just start throwing! I do regret being such a punk when I was a kid, especially since my house has been egged and that is one nasty mess to clean up on a hot summer morning.

It's bad enough people vandalize for no reason I agree, why make yourself a bigger target?

IMHO militant gays feel that violence and vandalism are ok.
this is going to work against them not for them.

What the heck are militant gays?

Are they real or more along the lines as unicorns and Santa Claus?

Answer:

One group watches MSNBC and believes everything they hear.

The other group watches FOX News and believes everything they hear.

This was true 45 years ago as well - only back then it was opposing radio stations instead of opposing cable news outlets.

The hospitals I've been in have checked me every time I tried to see my own father. As for the "rights"...well we don't have the same rights and thats wrong! It needs to change and soon!

I've known guys that have been together for over 18 yrs and one has passed and the other was out in the cold because the FAMILY had all the rights, to their property that they acquired together in the 18yrs...and he was OUT on his ear with nothing and no where to go........

As far as someone gay who is dying or critically ill and the partner is to be notified, I really think most families would contact that person or someone would. Hospitals aren't that political and are not gonna stop someone from seeing someone who is that ill, unless there is a major dispute from the "recognized" family. I tend to think these are less frequent.
I think in critical care, however, there are "rules" about only "family" visiting and for short times. Whether this would be strictly enforced by not allowing a gay partner to visit, I just doubt it. Nurses and doctors aren't politicial in hospitals, doing their job takes enough energy without interogating people regarding their sexuality.

I think gay partners, however, should have every legal right that us straight folks have who are "married."

I've been through HIPAA training several times now and it's all about protecting people's rights to privacy and anonymity in a hospital setting. Unfortunately sometimes they go too far and refuse to admit old friends, or people unable to identify themselves properly. I don't think medical people care about sexuality, but HIPAA does force them to care about privacy.
HIPPA has regulations related to privacy of medical records and other patient info. It doesn't regulate hospital visiting rules, which is what Phoenix lady posted about. Even under HIPPA, a patient can authorize the release of medical records to someone else, without regard to the relationship with that person.
