Want to move to a Conservative town in the surrounding Phoenix area, help!!
We are looking to move in the next couple of years and in the mean time we are keeping our eye on the markets in Arizona and Utah (where I attend school online). Scenery is pretty similar, but the prices for houses are better in Arizona. Any suggestions of good family, conservative towns?? I love the mountain scenery, so that would be a plus as well.
Thanks,
The Long Family

I had never heard of Gilbert until I did a search for conservative cities, where it was listed. I am not Mormon though, do you think this will be a problem? Will we be looked at as outcasts? That can't be the only religion there can it? If so, that would be a problem, as we would want to find a home church. Thank you for your post.

How conservative are we talking? Collar buttoned up to your chin and ankles covered? Or topless in the streets but only after 10pm?

I would say, definately not topless in the street; unless there is no one around for miles. More along the lines of loving the skin you're in enough to make people work to see it. No peep shows or freebees. I want to live in a town that hasn't lost it's self respect yet.

Gilbert sounds like a good fit. It's not all mormon, but they have migrated there from Mesa just north of there. But, they are good people, just like anyone else.

Colorado City, but that's not in the Phoenix area. I lived in a conservative town in the desert in California. Run by mormons. If you were non-mormon, you were not looked upon well. Also being a single male homeowner in those days attracted suspicious looks from neighbor families. They probably manufactured a bunch of interesting wild stories about me. I guess if I had kids, I too would want to shelter them from the world. But since I'm still single and middle aged, I'm not bothered by non-traditional households - in fact I'm comforted living among them. I never got married because I have not found the woman I could live with in old age when both our looks are gone and because I spent my marriage years in a yucky conservative small town.

I heard Prescot was real nice--and nicer than Prescot Valley.

After an election there is a gold mine of information you could use to decide if a place is conservative enough for you. All the major news sites have maps where you can drill down to see how an area voted. Some have zip code searches you can use if you have one in mind. I have also seen detailed maps that show how the voting went by precinct but maybe they aren't available for the latest election until all the votes are verified.
