I feel like experiencing something new, and having a good time at the same time. Feel like dressing up and going out, but have no ideas on where to go.
Any suggestions?

I live downtown, (and believe me I can do without seeing any more chip's or dales together)! But thanks for the humor.
Me and my g/f are 30 something'er's, but aside from bingo, bridge night, and a high-school dance we're down for anything. Prefer upscale though, since I have the rare urge to dress up. Checked out they PHX symphony, but the show is at 11AM today (WTF?) lol.
Places that I have been that I thought were absolutely GREAT, and would recommend to anyone looking at this thread with the same ideas in mind are. The Compass, and Melting pot restaurants! Both were great, and we had a blast. The melting pot was really different, and I enjoyed it the most.
The Compass was great too, but probably would have been better if I didn't live downtown in a high-rise on the 2oth floor and have become accustomed to view over-looking the city, but never-the-less is very nice.
I guess I'd like to have dinner, and possibly go somewhere with a live jazz band or something for some dancing afterwards, if I had to sum it all up
Thanks

if you are looking to drop a bit of $$ there are definitely worse places to do it than Kai for a restaurant - it's fun in the way they pamper you with food, but not for the light of wallet

This is a little late but for future reference try:

Geordie's Restaurant & Lounge at the Wrigley Mansion

Indulge in a little 1930s-style glamour at Wrigley Mansion’s swanky and sophisticated lounge. The bar is all dark, rich wood, lighted with small lamps with shades made from peacock feathers. Top-notch jazz musicians perform on weekends, and the patio offers one of the finest Valley views you can get without taking off from Sky Harbor. The specialty-cocktail list includes creative concoctions such as the Butterbaby, a mix of Bailey's Irish Cream and butterscotch schnapps topped with a creme de cacao float and served in a Butterfinger-crusted, old-fashioned glass. Because of zoning regulations requiring Wrigley Mansion to operate as a “private club,” frequent-diner memberships are $10 a year. The money is donated to charity.

Have you checked out the new Hanny's nightspot downtown at 1st St and Adams? Very cool place.

Roosevelt Tavern, The Vig, the rooftop on the Clarendon for sunset, the new Chez Nous joint on Grand (also close to the very cool Bikini Lounge and Paisle Violin), Durant's for overpriced stuff, a new bar at the Sanctuary (also best at sunset), and others.

The absolutely coolest place for a bev in PHX is one I'm not going to divulge on here. It's hidden, but not exclusive. Anyone can go. But it's such a unique gem and so unexpected that one has to be taken there to be introduced. If you try to describe it in advance, it loses half the appeal.
