Default looking for a safe place to live in phoenix metro area
i am leaving the cold midwest climate and moving to AZ to attend ASU in late summer 09'. i have searched for some apartments in places like tempe, mesa and chandler but i thought i would ask the locals who know it best. i am looking for opinions on a safe area to live. i don't mind a commute to school. thanks all in advance!

I've lived in Tempe for a long time. Great place to live. You can be a bit away from the University and still use public transit in the city to get to campus, saves on the parking hassles. Chandler is fine but further, Mesa would be my third choice.
