Things to do with children in Phoenix
Hi. I am moving to Phoenix in the summer, and I was wondering if some of you could tell me a few activities I can do with my children. They are young 8, 6, and 2. I will have a few months to spend doing things with my children before I start work so I would love to start planning. They are excited about the move, and since we will not be going on our annual vacation (moving expense will eat that up!), I would like for them to have a little fun. Also, this question is off topic, but how much should I expect to pay for a nice rent house in a good neighborhood. I am budgeting $1000.00 a month plus utilities? Is this a good price range? Thanks!

I haven't lived in Phoenix for a while so I don't have any rental info, but here are some ideas for your kids:
Arizona Science Center - They always seem to have fun exhibits for kids.
Water Parks - Maybe not for the two yr. old, though.... Check out Big Sur in Tempe
McCormick Park (Scottsdale Rd and McCormick) - They have a miniature train the kids can ride, a large park, merry go round, and cool playground.
Botanical Gardens - Nice plants, educational, cheap, and your children will love the free samples of Cactus Jam. They may even convince you to buy a jar.

Hi there im a single mom of 3 as well and moving to AZ in june 09! Wanted to say hi and also to share a bit with you theres TONS to do with children in AZ you will never be bored.
Waterparks, hiking, skateboard parks, sporting events, cultural events, museums, music etc etc etc...the list could go on and on. Where are you planning to work you will want to make sure of that BEFORE you decide where to move and GOODYEAR is awesome so many family activities...so many places to shop, dine, and very clean and safe!
Go to aznb.com,gorenter.com,move.com those should get you started you can get a very decent home for around $1000.00 a month. Check out estrella mountain they have one of the most beautiful communities i have seen ever and it evan has a waterpark there so that may be easier for you to take the baby. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi cantwait2move. June is probably when we will be moving also. I don't really know where I will be working yet. I don't graduate from college until May so I can't apply for any jobs until then, but it will be in one of the school districts in the area. Thanks for the advice. My children will be excited to have things to do. There isn't much to do in the area we live in here in Arkansas. I'll check out the websites you told me and the area and look around. Estrella mountain sounds great. I am actually married though but my husband will be working (hopefully!) while my kids and I are out exploring. Thanks again for the advice!

LGood suggestions here. There is a new children's museum at 7th Street and Van Buren that I have heard wonderful things about. ( I don't have kids myself) Lots of interactive exhibits, etc.
Welcome to the Children's Museum of Phoenix
They remodeled a beautiful historic elementary school... I love the fact that they found such a great use for it rather than knocking it down and building something ugly, which they do too much around here.
