response re where to live in Sun Lakes at age 20+
First, so many people are totally wrong about Sun Lakes. I don't know where you got your information about no body under 70. That is rubbish. Further, it is NOT a retirement community. People who spread those rumors are misinformed and mistaken. It is an active adult community, meaning you must be age 55 or older to own a home. You also must be 19 or older to live there permanently. Yes, only 19. 19 or older to live here. So you CAN live here, no problem. You can rent, just just cannot purchase a home. There is a 40 & 50s Club, clearly far from 70. You might be confusing Sun Lakes - the entire Sun Lakes area with a care facility in Sun Lakes, called the Renaissance. They probably don't have anyone under 70 there. That place is not a single family dwelling, as most of Sun Lakes is. There are some people who live here and are retired and people who work full time, others who work part-time, just like the rest of the world. Now, there are many people getting on in age. That is because Robson first marketed to people all over the country to sell his homes. That was more than 30 years ago and many of those people are still here and now into their 70s and 80s. Some purchased these homes as second homes (break from the snow in Winter) but, not all. Some of those people have begun to pass on to their next adventure - next life. Many are left. When you see people in the stores and out and about who can barely walk, they are most likely from the Renaissance. I've seen them dropped off and they slowly make it into a store. Then they are picked up and returned to the care home. They need to get out like everybody else. There are about a dozen homes for rent here from time to time, not likely for as little as $800 though. Where to live? There are a few town homes in select areas. Not many. Good luck. A realtor can advise you better. It is a nice place, great place to live. Get out at lunch time and walk around the lakes. I live here and have for a few years. No, I'm not anywhere near 70. I was in my early 40s. I also bought a home here and nobody said boo hoo. I don't think their rules can supersede State or Federal law. Anyone just might be able to buy a home here but don't push it and don't rub it in to anybody. Ask for trouble and it just might follow. Wish I could work here. My work takes me 30 - 40 miles away.
