In case anyone cares, they are planning a casino for the area of 91st Ave and Northern.

Glendale has major objections to Tohono O'odham casino

yeah - i read about this a week ago or so - sounds like many hurdles would need to get passed, including the whole land lease type issues as that is not reservation land

would be a massive operation from the sounds of it

I think we have enough casinos as it is, I have never been to one here in AZ but I heard they are not all that great.

I don't like them - but they're fine - typical slots & cards casinos, which tend to be a pretty big main draw

I think that would be a great location for one and a lot easier for people in the west valley to get to than the one off 51st

True, there is not many on the west side right? I thought they were ALL along the east side, I guess not.

It makes economic sense to put one near UOP Stadium...

True, but wouldn't it hurt the other business in the area?

Not sure that it would..might bring more people in. Westgate is nice but I wouldn't say it is a "must see Destination". If you go to Westagte it is because you are going to a game or because you live on this side of town. The Casino might pull in people that first come to check out the Casino and later find Westgate...

i don't think it would hurt - different audiences - the seniors in the sun cities/surprise area would love it

westgate is pulling the sports crowd and some of the youth/tourists with places like m'ville, shout house, hells half acre and saddle ranch

westparc is trying to draw a bit more upscale with the cigar bar, flemings and boutique stores like scottsdale jean co

cabelas draw the outdoors types

I could see people going to westgate for a couple drinks and then heading to the casino or making a night of a game/casino combo
