North Phoenix
My family is considering moving to the Phoenix area. My husband is looking at a job that is in northern Phoenix. Where would the best place to be to live? How is the commute from Glendale, Tempe, to Paradise Community College?
How is it living in Phoenix? We visited Tucson and fell in love with it.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you.

It all depends on your financial situation, willingness to commute, and schools (if you have kids). Can you be a bit more specific?

More Info....
We live in MA and have three children 14, 13 and 12 years old. I would ideally to send them to one school...they will be in the 9th, 8th and 7th grade. Is there any charter schools?
We would like a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house...our range could go up to $275,000. We would like a nice neighborhood with a pool nearby.
Ideally, we would also like a small commute i.e. 30 mins. or so....not sure if this is possible....LOL. I'm not sure how the traffic is other than on 10 - which was congested!
Thanks so much.

Unfortunatley, 275k does not get you much of house in Phoenix unless you are in a not so desirable area or unless you want a very small 4 bedroom. I live in Anthem which is very nice but for that price you are looking at a 1500-1600 sq ft home. There is an awesome waterpark here and the schools are better than some in AZ..not to say that the school system in AZ is goodthough.
I love where I live but I also like the Gilbert area although I hear the traffic in this area is very bad. Living in Anthem, you dont get the everyday traffic around town, however, driving into Phoenix can be crazy on the I 17. Good luck

Needachange....to answer your question, we live a 4 bdrm 2 bth house in a great school district(Deer valley unified). Our house is appraised right at $275K. Its a nice house but not too big. Backyard is fairly decent size and it's only 10 years old. We are in north Phx. I don not know of any schools that go k-12 or even 7th-12th. Middle school is 7th and 8th. Deer valley is a great school district but some schools of course are better than others. Good luck with your move.

IDK but I'm sure a decent sized house in North Phoenix/Glendale and in a good neighborhood can be had for under $275k right now.

Some houses in Arrowhead are going for around that price right now. PVCC is an easy drive from here. It's about a 20-30 min. away.

GreatHeartsAz.org runs several demanding charter schools in the Phoenix area, including Glendale Prep (Arrowhead Ranch) which is currently 6-9th grades and adding a grade each year until it hits 6-12th grades. You can get a nice 3000 SF, 4 BR house in a nice areas of Terramar, Sonoran Mtn Ranch or West Wing (85383 zip) in your price range. Should be about 30 mins to PVCC.
