Default Mesquite trees.....

Is it normal this time of year for Mesquite trees to be shedding a whole lot of needles (or leaves, whatever the correct description is) all over the place? Our yard seems to get covered literally a day after we blow everything off......

Oh yes they do kind of run dormit during the winter, but come spring they get filled out. The deer and critters love the seed pods as well. The dogs think they are a special treat as well.
But like you said my rain gutters are filled with there debri.
If you are willing to water year around they may stay active not sure.
