The Area around Cotton Center Blvd, Ghetto or not?
Planning a transfer to work at 4425 E Cotton Center Blvd.
I did visit an apartment complex, Cotton Center Townhouses nearby
on Pueblo Ave. You know, it is hard to tell from a onetime daytime
visit as to how the neighborhood really is. It looked okay to me.
I am not expecting an upscale luxury community here, but I don't
want to be in danger of being mugged every night!
I believe this is on the Phoenx/Tempe border. N. Broadway is right there.
I spoke to someone who live there about 12 years ago, and he said the
area was getting bad then and he would never consider moving back.
So, can anyone tell me for sure, is this truy the Ghetto, or a dangerous
hood? Any advice or help is appreciated.
It is hard to plan a move to a strange city from afar!
THANKS!

without the major cross street i believe this is 48th St and Broaway. Those townhouse there are run by gangs. So unless you run in that circle you probably dont want to live there. Extremely dangerous area.

You do NOT want to live in that area. You can live in Tempe and have an easy drive to work.

We had a nickname for those townhomes in high school - the "townhomes of death." People go in, but they don't always come out...

Great...
Living close to work is not worth the price of flirting with death.
Thanks for the responses!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. I think those aren't the same as the old Hallcraft townhomes you can see from I-10 as you go by 48th/Broadway, but the area is still BAD.
Seriously, Tempe is just down the street on Broadway. Go about 4 blocks to 52nd, and the neighborhood gets a lot better, as you continue east into Tempe, there's lots of good areas.

seriously people wake up....stop the ignorance and racism...quit watching movies and confusing it with real life...2 people were stabbed in Scottsdale last weekend...a guy was shot in westgate a few weeks ago...yet because cotton center townhomes arent upscale condos its a gang run area..LOL..ignorance..its just like any other complex..and we havent had any stabbings or shootings so try looking at facts when you judge an area not ignorant stereotypes and foolish hear say..

Relax, musicsurf. We know that crimes occur everywhere. But are there better areas, not only in terms of crime, but other amenities, VERY close by? Yes. And, I haven't looked up statistics lately, but that stretch of Broadway from 48th west to 24th (and further) has been in the crime news a LOT over the years. I'n not going to recommend anything in that area as a first time residence to someone who has never lived here and doesn't know the Phoenix area at all, when there are better options in terms of crime and nearby amenities within just a few mles.
