What's the best course in the Valley @ under $100 for tee time in late September??

I'd suggest a few things:

- Be much more specific in your geographical areas of interest. It's a huge area and many courses are on the fringes due to courses needing a lot of land. Great golf can be found from Maricopa to Fountain Hills to near Apache Junction, North Scottsdale out to Vistancia and others on the Western edges. Choosing between 2 places 12 miles apart versus 120 miles apart makes a big difference if your tee time is 8 am!

- What do you seek? My fave place is a nice public course and costs $18, and includes red rock scenery. It delivers the golf experience for litle cost, other than the balls I lose and the tips to the beer cart gals.

- Check again closer to Sept. Green fees are like hotel rooms... never fixed. Cheaper when they need you. Overpriced when they don't. Traditionally there are high and low seasons, but even then the price jumps depending on the time of day. September is still pretty toasty here, so they might quote fall prices but give much better deals if you are willing to play mid-day. And with the economy in the crapper for the near future, you might score some great deals that aren't yet offered, and at places that are usually less open.

thanks for those great tips.. looking for a great course within 30 mins drive from The Arizona Grand (I-10 and Baseline). Not necessarily looking for something cheap, but are more after the experiene. prefer not to top $100-$125. thanks in advance.

The Legacy is near the AZ Grand Resort and usually in Sept. fees tend to be low (since it's still hot).

If you want really cheap, there's Kokopelli in Gilbert (around $25) as well as Western Skies (around $25 also).

You will have your pick of a lot of courses as the rates will still be low from summer. Ocotillo and The Raven are just 2 that come to mind. The only problem you may run into is if some of the courses have started overseeding. Many courses begin this process the last week in September.

Here's the overseeding schedule from last year. I'm not sure when this year's schedule comes out, but it will probably be similiar.

I really liked Wigwam. They had rates less than $100 and it was fantastic

I like the Raven which is very close to Arizona Grand. Heck, even the course at Arizona Grand is pretty nice.

I would suggest signing up at golfnow It is a discount site for last minute tee times.
