Default Moving to Arizona

My husband and I are going to be moving to the phoenix area and we have never been there yet. Want to know which areas to look at living in, my husband will be going to a school that is located in Avondale. But so far I have heard avondale is not such a great place to live. Where would be a relatively close place to avondale that would be a good place to buy a home?

Surprise, which is just north of Avondale has a HUGE inventory of homes! The going rate for the most part is about $65 per square foot...meaning you can get a home of 2,000 square feet for around 130k or so. I've lived here in Surprise for 8 years...lot of restaurants, a movie theater, a couple Wal Marts, etc. Probably as mice a place as any in the Northwest Valley.

Good luck on the move.

Goodyear is right next to avondale - also, not all of avondale is bad - they're putting in a lot of effort that will focus around avondale blvd - i know people who live there (east of the agua fria river) and like it

i love my place in goodyear though

if you do a search for UTI on the boards you'll see some others experiences as well

Goodyear is right next door to Avondale and the area north of I10 is very nice. Goodyear would be my personal choice over Avondale because of the better reputation, and over Surprise because of the distance.

I live and work in the east valley, and don't serve the Avondale, Goodyear area because it's too far for me to drive to serve clients well; so I'm not well versed on many of the communities within those towns.

Surprise is 22 miles to the north of Avondale, a 30 minute drive with no traffice. People who live in Suprise love it although it was terribly over built and there is an abundance of vacant homes there now, hence the reason for the lower prices.

Check out the areas closely before making a decision.

I would highly recommend finding an agent to help you with your needs. A good agent will work hard to help you find your ideal home. I am very happy with the gentleman that helped me find my home. Good Luck! If you have trouble finding a good agent I can refer you to the gentleman I used....tracymoore88@yahoo

My suggestion would be Goodyear or Litchfield Park. My personal favorite would be Estrella Mountain Ranch in Goodyear but that could be little too far. Palm Valley in Goodyear is also very nice area as well as Wigwam in Litchfield Park and are much closer to the school in Avondale. Most affordable place would be Avondale and I would suggest either Caldwater or Fulton Estates communities. On top of that City of Avondale has great incentive for buying a home.

How long do you anticipate your husband being in school? You may want to rent, then buy a home when he is out of school and working.
