Default Vehicle Registration

I will be moving to AZ ina couple of months from Alaska/Maine. I am curious about what the cost to register a vehicle is in AZ. My vehicles are currently registered in NH and cost about $400-450 each per year. They are both 2008 vehicles. I just dont want to be shocked when I go to register them.

Also, how long do you need to own your vehicle out of the state before becoming exempt on the vehicle sales tax (if it is even applicable)? When I looked to register my vehicles in Mass to be exempt from the sales tax the vehicles needed to be owned for 2 years, I think...

FYI, I am in the Military, active duty thus the random locations listed. Thanks in advance for all of the help.

Default follow-up question

I found this useful tidbit under the military section of the provided website:

Nonresident Exemptions
Active duty military personnel or Public Health Service (PHS) Officers stationed in Arizona who are not Arizona residents are not required to pay the VLT portion of the annual vehicle registration.

To register a vehicle, nonresident active duty military personnel must:
  1. Provide an affidavit for VLT exemption of nonresident service personnel issued and certified by the commanding officer.
  2. Meet all applicable vehicle emissions test requirements.
  3. Pay a registration fee and if applicable, commercial registration and weight fees, motor carrier fees and/or any late registration penalty fees that may apply.
Luckily the vehicles are registered and titled in my name in case this situation ever came up. My new question is, what is the cost to register a vehicle excluding the VLT? Both vehicles were in the $20-25K range for MSRP.
