My husband is being relocated to scottsdale and we're looking at different areas to buy a house. We have a 13 & 10 year old so schools are def. important. How is the commute from Gilbert to Scottsdale as that is where hubby's office is located. We did research on areas and seemed to like Gilbert, they have planned communities which we are very interested in. Also, is it really that great living in Scottsdale. We keep hearing hype about it's so great to live there. Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

He will be working on the North side of Scottsdale.

How far north? The farther north the workplace is, the worse the commute from Gilbert will be.

The commute from North Scottsdale to Gilbert is a nightmare. Don't understand why you would not want to move to Gilbert - another upscale place with excellent schools.
Don't believe the hype, there are other awesome communities in the valley. |

I would avoid the commute from North Scottsdale to Gilbert under any circumstances. You might consider expanding your search to include looking in the Desert Ridge area of NE Phoenix for homes as well. Great access to shopping, a nice community and less than a 30 minute commute to any part of north Scottsdale. Tatum Ranch in Cave Creek is also an option for you.

I agree that the Gilbert commute would be horid. Gilbert is a great city to live in and I'd say move there. Scottsdale is an awesome area with tons of activites, resturants, art galleries, etc; but if you hate traffic then the commute would kill you.

I guess I would have to agree with everyone else and say that Gilbert is the place to live if you have kids. Gilbert has great schools and is family oriented. I believe Gilbert was also rated one of the safest cities in the country. However, commuting from Gilbert to N. Scottsdale would not be something I would want to do on a daily basis. The traffic is awful. There are some really nice neighborhoods in NE Phoenix, N. Scottsdale, and Cave Creek, though. Good Luck!

My husband's office is located off of Pima and Loop 101. Is Gilbert still to far? 30 minutes to commute does seem pretty far. Are there any other planned communities worth looking into around the North Scottsdale/Phoenix area? Our price range for a house is anything up to $400,000. Thanks for all the input. Any infor will be a great help. We are allso looking for a select soccer club for my 10 year old son. thanks!!
