My home in North Phoenix was burglarized. It took the police 6 hours to come by and give me a few forms to fill out and mail in. It is a criminal paradise here, there is no chance that they will get caught, the police don't even bother with property crimes.

People are too trusting of others and become a victim because of it. I'm not refering to saying Hi to your neighbor either. My godparents have had their vehicles stolen multiple times and im sure it has to do with the people they meet, talk with, and associate with.
Another example is someone online i communicated with, gave an example of his car being broken into and stereo stolen. Well he finds out weeks later its his ex-girlfriend's brother that stole the stereo.

The majority of crimes are committed by people the victim knows. Talk to any police officer and they will confirm that.
Also, I think people place too much value on the name of an area instead of the actual neighborhood. They will buy a house in a bad neighborhood but think they are safe because the surrounding neighborhood or area is considered nice. The reality is there are bad pockets in every part of the city. Some people will say "But I live in Gilbert so I should be safe" well not really, it depends on your neighborhood. Someone can claim they live in the Biltmore but that term is vague and it can include bad areas. Many of the nice areas in Phoenix can be immediately surrounded by run down areas. My neighborhood is safe but 5 miles from my neighborhood is an area that isn't so safe but it's in Ahwautukee so they will think they are safe. That's why when people ask about cities or areas of the valley, it makes no sense to generalize. You can live in East Mesa and find a great safe neighborhood and you can live in Scottsdale and be in an unsafe neighborhood.

My daughter was sleeping in her bed, in her first floor apt in Scottsdale when a man got in and woke her up. She had left the patio screen door open for some air. She screamed and he ran. The police never did anything except take a report.

This is not unique to Phoenix. In any city this size, police will file a report. The only types of crime they actively pursuit are violent crime for the most part. This is pretty routine. It's sad I know but honestly the only thing you can do to protect yourself. Choose to live in a safe area, lock your doors, have a great insurance policy in regards to your home and auto, know your neighbors well. Make sure you have a good insurance policy. If you have guns, make sure you and your family are educated and know how to use them. I still think having an alarm is a good thing. Sure, I know a thief could likely get away with a crime before the police can arrive on the scene but it's one more deterrent.

If the cry baby liberals would stop bothering the Sheriffs dept for five minutes maybe they could get some of the cockroaches off the Phoenix streets.
You think its bad now, imagine it with a pansy a#* democrat sheriff in town.
Can you say East LA ?

My mothers car was robbed. They smashed her window to steal a clearly broken cd player. She ran into the store for about 10 mins. Her home was also robbed.

Well I live around 67th and Bethany (southwest Glendale) and I don't travel anywhere alone without my police grade pepper spray. I have been fallowed, and... cut off by many a creepy old man. I don't recommend this area, at all.
