I consider anything north of Shea to be North Scottsdale.

It's certainly a "fuzzy" border, and continually moves north as urban sprawl continues north of the 101. IMO, North Scottsdale would be considered anything north of Thunderbird Rd. on the south border (Kierland Commons -- definitely considered "North" Scottsdale, is just north of Thunderbird); east from about 56th St. (zip 85254 -- interestingly enough, 85254 people have Scottsdale mailing addresses but actually live in the City of Phoenix and are serviced by Phoenix -- police, garbage, fire, etc -- not Scottsdale.. but they LOVE to promote the 85254 "Scottsdale" zip code in real estate!); west from waaay out (120th st...?); and south from Carefree Highway (although some of these people fall into Cave Creek territory).

Do you ever get te feeling that certain people have such little in their lives that they have to constantly come to these forums, bash the city to death, and then leave? I think it speaks volumes about what these certain people must be like in person, and that they really are nothing more than probably a socially inept bully who needs to hide behind a computer screen while they spit random facts about a place they don't live in. Or maybe it is the fact that they are acutually very frustrated with their own city and have such an inferiorty complex that they must attack the very city they wished they lived in. Or maybe there is a slight mental imbalance, because it seems that certain posters seem to keep bashing and repeating the same statements over and over again and expecting different results. Isn't that definition of insanity? Certain people seem to do this quite a bit and I just wonder if they need medicine or just a friend. Whatever the case, it looks like certain people have not succeeded at making Phoenix out the be public enemy number one, because you good people haven't started exiting the city in droves yet. Honestly, if it isn't a mental disorder, than what is the deal!? It's a city, not a flippn statement about life! I'm not sure how one city, can cause a certain somebody so much distress in their lives? Last edited by bouldercol; 06-12-2007 at 12:08 AM. |

All I can say is, from one New Yorker to another, we came out to visit family in the early 90's, and simply fell in love. My sister-in-law and mother-in-law have lived in three different addresses in Scottsdale. Both my husband and I have such great feelings when we are there, I used to become so depressed to leave. I do like our beaches and live on LI out near the Hamptons, but the nature, scenery, cacti, weather, people, cleanliness.................of the whole area is just beautiful. This past Feb. we finally made a second home purchase. You ask whether you should live in either Scottsdale or Cave Creek, I think both are beautiful, but you should probably make a trip out for yourselves to see. If we could have afforded something in Cave Creek, we probably would have bought there. It is more laid back and "western" in feel. Whereas, Scottsdale is more neighborhoody, if that makes sense. The stores and shops in Cave Creek vs. Scottsdale are more artist havens and western in flavor. I personally don't think you could go wrong in either. We ended up buying in a neighborhood in Peoria, called Vistancia. It is off the beaten path for now, but that is what we personally like. That is probably why I would push more for you to be in Cave Creek then Scottsdale, but that is a personal preference. I don't really get why people make these comments about "snobs", all I can say is, in the three neighborhoods that both my sister-in-law lived as well as, the neighborhoods my mother-in-law lived, the neighbors couldn't do enough for each of them. They watch their pets when they are away, have block parties, take care of each other's kids, visit and call them often, take in each other's mail, as a matter of fact, one of the women in my sister-in-law's neighborhood, recently came down with breast cancer. The women, of which there are 7 or so of them, are taking turns cooking dinner for her hubby and kids while she is receiving chemo. One is picking up the women's mom to bring her to the house as the women doesn't have transportation to her daughter's. Another is taking her children to and from school. I don't know about you, but my neighbors in NY, wouldn't be doing that for me.........................just a thought. Here you don't even see anyone for months on end!

We are moving to Cave Creek on Sept 1 from Canada and in all honesty we found Cave Creek to be a bit newer than North Scottsdale but also more affordable (not by alot though).
This may be the wrong forum but are snakes/ scorpions a major concern in Tatum Ranch? |
