But the OP wants a good IT job market, and good schools. Leaving the schools out of it because I have no personal knowledge, even I know there's no good IT market there.

Well then you definitely wont like Phoenix then. Phoenix has extreme heat, horrible air quality, crime is out of control you might even get kidnapped here, and the schools are ranked near the bottom in the nation. Plus, the job market is on the toilet not good jobs left here.

I would try Gilbet, a little sub outside of PHoenix...safe with good schools. I moved here from the midwest, personally i am happy we did not choose Phoenix.

Just a thought

I've never heard of Gilbet. How far outside of Phoenix is Gilbet and much cooler than PHX is it in the summer?

Gilbert is a suburb of Phoenix and is just as hot as Phoenix. If you are so concerned about the heat of Phoenix then don't move here you will be miserable. There is no cool city within an hour commute of Phoenix period.

There are pockets of the north valley (Anthem, Carefree) that are a bit cooler at NIGHT, that might be within commute range. If you can afford them, that is.

Phoenix is not that hot; just about everyone has an air conditioned house and car, all the buildings are air conditioned. All you have to 'brave' is a walk from your car in a parking lot to your destination. Winters are great as is Spring and Autumn.

I know what and where Gilbert is. I wanted to know where Gilbet is located b/c the poster I quoted mentioned a city called Gilbet and Gilbet maybe a ideal location for the OP if the temps are much cooler in that part of AZ.

I missed that part! Well, if a decent paying direct-hire IT job is that case that I hate to say it but AZ in general is not the best place since I am in the same exact boat!
I have been here 2 years and got solid skills/experience and have yet to find a permanent position that also pays decent enough (unless you consider an annual income under $50K decent?).
