Default Hmmmm....

I too bought with Trend @ Tartesso. Ok so I have comments for almost everyone here. As for whoever said the all the homes are different and not cookie cutter has some serious issues on our block we have the a majority of the same model and same style some even right next to eachother or across the street from one another. Trend was very difficult to deal with in the building design portion there are things that we are still fighting about that we were told we would receive during the design center and ww still do not have. The contract part was not that bad only because I tend to read everything and fight everything so they found out early they could not outsmart me or try to dumb me down. Our super sucked we tried to get him to address certain problems and all he would say would be "yeah I will look into it" and nothing was ever done. We are currently struggling with the warranty in trying to fix everything. I wish anyone that buys with Trend Homes the best of luck and if they want to buy with them then by all means feel free as long as they know what they are getting themselves into.

I have seen this development advertised on TV. It looks very nice. I like Trend Homes for the most part. At least I don't know anyone who has complained about them. I would seriously consider the Buckeye area. The area has a lot of new housing developments and prices are reasonable, but the area has the serious potential to turn into a real high crime ghetto. Location is everything especially for resale. I think I have heard of a several drop houses out that way too. I would just advise u to do as much research as possible. Good luck

I live out in Buckeye and to a degree, sun queen is correct. It seems like most of the folks in my neighborhood are your average family and it's pretty quiet. I live off of Miller Rd/Baseline. Friendly neighbors and such. There's another neighborhood close to the new commercial area on Watson/I-10 and even though the neighborhood itself looks nice, half the letters that spell the name of the neighborhood is missing due to kids (or loiterers) taking the letters off. That shows me that the kids don't respect their neighborhoods ... and the parents don't either, IMO. The neighborhood I'm referring to has bigger homes than where I live so the assumption is that the neighborhood should be nicer ie "safer", right?

My point is, yes, do your research. Buckeye - other than the distance to PHX - is pretty nice. It's quiet and if you like quiet, then it's all good. For my husband and I, we will not be buying property here b'c I like being closer into town. Also, there is a pretty strong maneur stinge when the farmers lay 'em out - that may or may not bother you. I don't know if Tartesso has that problem.

I've heard - so far - only good things but if you have kids, you may also want to consider the school there. So far, there is no school built from what I know and that it may take a while for the school to get built. Maybe somebody can correct me if I'm wrong.

Good luck to you.

Default Tartesso home owner

I bought my Trend home back in November 2006, and moved in on Jun 6; 2007. I since have loved my homes design and curb appeal. I think that sets the Trend homes apart from the others. One day I went to water my lawn and the water hose valve would not shut off. I called Trend and someone was there before I could get dressed. They fixed the valve in a few minutes and i had to do nothing but thank them. My Trend home is alos very green. i lived in a New 800 sqft. apartment in Arrowhead and my electric bills were 40% higher than my 1100 sqft home. I have yet to see a power bill over $175. I was in and out of the house in the hotest part of the summer and kept the air at about a cool 76 degrees. Not bad I think.

I just plan like Tartesso for it's quite neiborhoods and parks. i like the landscaping and the fact that we our own town out here and I think it's going to grow well these next many years.

Default Tartesso

There is a grammer school and it will be open soon, also there will be a High school in the near future. I have seen little problems from the kids in our area in Tartesso. I think hear we are mostly older familys. Although I am 25 and My wife is 27, no kids.

As for the smell from the farms, you don't have to worry about that. We are far away from all that.

The drive to downtown Phoenix is less than 45 minutes, and thats conservitive. There are problems with traffic at the Linchtfield Exit for about 2 miles, but usally is gone after the third lane is added after the Dysart exit. There is a New Super Wal-mart just 10 minutes aways on Watson Road in Sundance. In that area include: Chpolte, Cracker Barrel, Fry's(very big) Lowe's, Pet Smart, gas station, movie rental, animal hospital, subway, jack n' box, wendy's, KFC, car tire place and a lot more. These thing are new additions. Some as new as a few months.

The west West side of the Valley is no longer in the Dark. Also now that the new Phoenix footbal stadium has opened up there are more and more things to do here. I don't think I'll ever og back to the east side.

Thumbs down Trend Homes

I have been working with Trend Homes for over a year now and have found them to be dishonest, poor quality workmanship, and unreliable as to time of build. RUN AWAY! I am caught in their insane contract and can't get out but I would if I POSSIBLY could. I have three friends who have just cut their losses and backed out of a contract, losing a great deal of money, because of problems with this builder. If I could stand the loss of my ernest money and required down on the design center, I would dust off my shoes and leave. Also, in the Cooley Station development, Trend has sold out to another company. Are they bankrupt? I don't know, but my advice is to absolutely not get involved.

There is an article in the Business Section of azcentral dot com from last week telling about Trend being bought out and the new company will be taking Trend through bankruptcy so they can get the company better positioned for building houses this year.

altus2006, thank you for that info. I live in another stae, and am relocating due to my husbands job transfer. Trend was one of the builders whose homes I was researching, as I am interested in the floorplans of some of their models. Does anyone think this buyout would become a problem if we decide to purchase a spec home in the future? Thanks for any input.

I went to Trend Home's sales center in Tartesso this past sunday, and they have print outs telling customers that Trend has filed for CH 11 Bankruptcy on 01/31/2008 & another investment company will purchase Trend Homes.
As for their current spec homes, the sales person told me they will continue to sell homes under the name of Trend Homes, but I'm seriously considering the warranty & level of customer service they will provide to new & existing home owners. It might take them weeks (maybe months) to fix issues for all the home owners from now on. Also personally, I DO NOT, and WILL NOT want to buy a home from a builder who has gone through bankruptcy. I know it's not builder's fault that we have such a weak market right now & they had to file Chapter 11, but if a builder is strong enough, they should have enough liquidation fundings for periods like this.
Personally, I will stay away from Trend Homes and/or any small builders and choose someone who has enough funding to ride out these tough times. After all, it's your family members who will suffer if a builder cannot provide warranty/customer service when you needed them the most.
