Question Son, wife & child live will live in Chandler. Thinking about moving from Peoria, IL to Casa Grande

Husband retired 2 yrs ago and since then we've visited for a month at a time in Scottsdale. We rented a condo at Sunscape and enjoyed the area for its easy walking to parks, restaurants, and many choices of golf courses. Our son & family is moving to Chandler from Phoenix and we've heard some great things about Casa Grande. We love to golf, frequent restaurants, walk, view galleries, visit museums, parks, comedy clubs, concerts, etc. Is this a reality in Casa Grande? We currently live in an area that has high humidity in summer and this year the winter has been brutal to say the least. Just 2 days ago we got 3 inches of snow after 60 degree days. One week ago, we got 6 inches of snow after near-70 degree days. I'm so sick of that! We've visited real estate websites and housing looks like a buyers market. Any thoughts?

Golf and restaurants, yes, but not much golf and chain restaurants.

Galleries, museums, concerts, comedy clubs? Not in Casa Grande. There was NOTHING there when I lived there almost thirty years ago. It's much better now in terms of the basic amenities, so it's a fine place to retire if you aren't looking for the kinds of activities you describe. For you, doesn't sound right. Why not just move to Chandler or one of the other East Valley cities, if you also want to be close to your family?

Thank you for the input. We're looking into a lot of options lately and will have to compile all the facts and make a decision. This is a wonderful forum to develop a picture of what we'll be experiencing.
