I've often heard the bit about Peoria schools being some of the best.

When we were looking to buy here we picked out 2 houses, one in Peoria district and one in Deer Valley. The deciding factor for us was schools and we ended up in DVUSD. Specifically Hillcrest and Mountain Ridge, since the OP asked about middle and high schools. No regrets, we've been pleased with all levels of schools in our area and my kids absolutely love MRHS.

I'm not sure whether things have changed or not, but when we were looking in Peoria district they were growing so quickly that they were closing schools to new move-ins. The house we were looking to buy would have been in the boundaries of one of their top elementary schools, but my kids would have been bussed to a much less desirable school. That sealed the deal for us... no thank you!

Not that Greatschools.net ratings are the final word on school quality, but Sunrise Mountain ranks 9 and Mountain Ridge ranks 10.

I guess I just don't get why people think Peoria district is so much better?
