Exclamation Interracial couple w/kids moving to Phoenix

Hi everyone!
We are moving back to Phoenix, Az after living overseas for 6 yrs. A lot has changed in the area since we moved so I need a little help from you guys!
We are a black/white married couple with 3 kids and we would like to live in an area with mixed population. My ideal would be a nice looking area with Mexicans, Whites and Blacks etc living together and my kids would go the local school with their kids. Is is just a dream? We have lived in an all white area for years now and the kids need to be exposed to different looking people with different values and cultures. We used to live in central Scottsdale and Chandler. We want to live in a nice area. I heard Gilbert was nice, but it is hard to do research on line. What experiences do you have?. I would appreciate your input!
Thanks!

You can look at census data for AZ towns here:
State and County QuickFacts

There you can find some demographic information. The root of city-data.com also has a search bar that you can search for specific cities to find some good data as well.

Gilbert is a nice family town. I think it's mostly white and some hispanic though, so not sure if that's what you are looking for. Tempe seemsa bit more diverse in that area. Take a look at the link....

I think you will find Gilbert to be less likely to have mixed neighborhoods than practically any suburb in the Valley. High LDS (Mormon) population.

I think the kind of neighborhood you describe might exist in several Valley suburbs, but identifying exactly where in those cities might be difficult.

Take a hard look at Tempe.

Especially if being around educated (college) people is important to you

Laveen (area roughly south of Baseline and West of 35th Ave) is like that. It has boomed since you left. It's got a mixed reputation, but the people who contribute to this forum who live there seem to like it.
