Default One day to check out the Surprise area

Hi everyone, we are considering a move to Surprise from northern Utah. We want to come visit but It's an 11 hour drive for us with 2 little ones so we have to break the drive up into two days. By the time we do this we are only going to have 1 full day in the area. Obviously this will not be the only time we visit before we move but this may be the decision maker on whether we put our home up for sale here. I think I would rather move home to St. George UT but hubby really wants to give outside of Utah a try. Anyways, what do you suggest we see in Surprise on our 1 day excursion? Obviously can't find out a lot on schools or anything in that time so mostly just want to get a feel for the city. I really want to thank everyone on this site for being so helpful. It's great to have pages and pages of info to read through.

We moved to Surprise 4 months ago. Not much to see really. Surprise is a growing city. Mostly homes right now. They have a catus league ball park, lots of commercial development on Bell road. There will be a big mall built on the 303 in the future. You should have no problem seeing the city in 1 day.

When you here just look up. You will see the fighter jets flying formation from Luke air base. Kinda cool.

the last thing you'll want to do is spend more time in the car - but try to mimmick a commute, drive to places where you'll want to go, etc

that will have a lot to do with living out here

if you know where you'll be working that's a big thing to map out

The weather has been really nice here so the snowbirds are taking their time leaving. Commute times in and out of surprise will defer in the summer and winter months.

Family of five looking to relocate. We ran across a lot of affordable housing, but very concerned with the neighborhoods and schools.
What is the story on Fox Hill Run in Surprise, AZ?
Is it a good area?
What about the schools?
I read that Northwest Phoenix is a good metro area. This is a plus compared to what we experience now.
Current residence is Lorain, OH. This place sucks in housing, employment, and opportunity.
How is employment out there? Is it easy to find a job?
In Lorain it can take 6-8 months to find a job.

It could take you a while to find work here too, depending on what you are looking for. I have a hard time encouraging people looking for someplace better to move here, in these times, unless they already have employment or have a substantial cushion to take them through the time it might take to find one.

Thanks for the heads up observer53. Greatly appreciated. Have you ever heard of Fox Hill Run? The prices on the single family homes available are awesome. They have the room we need for our family.

I don't live on that side of town, so I'm not familiar with that particular area. Are you talking resale homes, or new construction, as far as the prices you are seeing?
