I wasn't trying to suggest one person's experience was more accurate than the other but rather both of your experiences are valuable and should be taken into consideration

I'm from Ny and I have lived in Gilbert among Mormons for many years and I drink on my front porch and in my backyard I don't care. They don't bother me, and in fact my kids have had many good Mormon friends. I just had to add my 2 cents. You can live wherever you want but I think this Mormon thing is a little over blown unless people are really looking for something to complain about. People are sensitive about everything these days. Live and let live but draw the line when you need to.
Good luck in Phoenix.

That's not all High School age Mormons, I'm sure their are some but like I said my kids had Mormon friends in HS. Even if they didn't allow their kids to socialize with Non Mormons who cares, there's plenty of other kids to socialize with that's their choice who they want their kids to socialize with. I preferred my kids not to socialize with thugs. I hope the thrugs didn't get their feeling hurt.

Agree, I find that Mormons (the ones I know) are very friendly. The neighbors across the street from us are are Mormons and have watched our kids the past two times our wife has gone into labor and I find them to be (Mormons in general) about the friendliest people I know.
That being said, I wouldn't want to live in a predominantly Mormon neighborhood and find myself hiding my beer when I bring it in with the rest of the groceries.
And there are different kinds of Mormons just how there are different types of Catholics.

Not really! A much higher percentage of Mormons engage in a strict lifestyle when compared to Catholics particularly newer generations of Catholics. Most Mormons I know would readily admit this and not take any offense to my statement. In fact, it's quite the contrary, Mormons are proud of their strict lifestyle and see it as a form of worship and strength. They are not embarrassed by it nor should they be. Catholics on the other hand sort of ridicule previous generations particularly regarding contraception. Mormons are much more united and I haven't really witnessed younger Mormons riduling their previous generations for abstaining from alcohol for example.

Well, at least one Bishop is telling his ward that it is a "sin" to date a nonmormon.

The Arcadia area of East Phoenix bordering central Scottsdale is nice and not far from the airport or the 51, which will take you to Desert Ridge. Older homes with irrigated yards and lots of citrus trees. They used to have a bad roof rat problem but I don't think that's the case any more. I'd get a status update on that before I decided to move there.

I didn't equate "socializing" with "dating". But, I'm not surprised to hear about a particular bishop saying that. I've seen VERY over-the-top Mormon bishops, and others who did their jobs VERY well without being so extreme.
Arcadia area is lovely... in the middle of that area, you'd have no idea you were in a huge city. There are some large McMansions that resulted from tearing down the original lots, some newer construction that is not so large (also from teardowns) and some lovely older homes as well.

We just moved to chandler and I love it! I feel like its the in the middle of all the placed I love or need to go. I would highly recommend CHANDLER. We moved here from out of town and had to buy a UHUAL TRUCK for all of our furniture it was going to be way too much money to try and rent one. The people here in AZ are so helpful we wouldnt have known that we could buy a truck and save hundreds of dollars. I had someone email me on something like this and let me know. So needless to say I am very happy with deciding to move to AZ we have been here over a year now.
