This is a photo of Rosson House Museum in downtown Phoenix. It is a house that dates back to the earliest Phoenix township in 1890's. No Adobe here! It is a handsome building yet one you would never expect to see in the middle of the desert. One poster made the comment that Phoenix looks like most other cities, it does not look "southwestern." I agree. It does not have any strong cultural references in its personality.

Now this is one of my favorite modern buildings in Phoenix. The Mercado, part of the downtown campus of ASU. Clean, handsome lines with loads of personality.

As little time as you have, I don't know that you need to stop this time, since you are really concentrating on residential areas this time in a really short time frame.

Default Moving Right Along . . . More Phoenix Photos

http://abqstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/encanto-park-lagoon-bridge1.jpg (broken link)

Here are a couple of photos from one of Phoenix's most beautiful urban spaces, Encanto Park. The maintenance staff deserves high marks for the great work they do in maintaining this park, the most heavily used park in all Phoenix! Phoenix should be proud of this space! Phoenix generally has very nice parks and public spaces. I never imagined there would be so many places to go fishing in the desert!

The whole north central area of Phoenix looks beautiful...especially Encanto Park. I'd definitely move to a north central Phoenix neighborhood. It looks quite appealing, especially with such a beautiful park nearby.

I moved to Phoenix from Minnesota in March. I have to say that it is fairly boring due to everything being so spread out but it is a very clean good looking city and those pictures above showing Phoenix in a bad light are not what the city looks like at all. Sure, South Phoenix and Guadalupe may be a little "run down" if I want to go there but the valley is very beautiful and people are friendly. Phoenix people are much nicer than Minneapolis people.

Hamlish50,

What city is the picture that has the homes with the palm-tree lined street in? I believe there are mountains in the background as well. That picture really resonates with me. Absolulely beautiful pictures!
