Hmmm... while I can understand your fervor, Mike, you might want to get the facts straight. Cinco de Mayo (1862) is not an official "Independence Day" for Mexico, but it is a very important day which commemorates a battle which was fought in order to expel the French, which had designs on taking over Mexico! Mexico's official Independence Day is celebrated every September 15. This date commemorates when Mexico declared independence from Spain in 1810. When you read into the above link, you'll see that Americans celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Mexico for a number of reasons.

Actually, if one seriously takes notice, many TV commercials show less and less caucasians in them, and more and more African, Asian, and Hispanic Americans!

See above!

Someone demanded to know the point of my thread. Read all the other Phoenix and Arizona bashing threads and then come back and read mine. You'll get it.

We have our Tucson haters too. One person's screen name is "I Hate Tucson". He rants all the time about the only jobs in Tucson are Call Center jobs, yet by his own admission he has been fired from three call centers! Whether it is Phoenix, Tucson, or wherever you are, if you hate it so much, just move. Put a plan is place and make it happen. It could be two months or two years, but do something besides complain. There's lot of great places in this country to live. Make it happen. Life is too short to be that unhappy with where you live.

I'll add one more thing.

-If you come from Illinois, New York, New Jersey, California or wherever, don't bring it with you. Forget about your "teams", your "food" and your so-called culture. Like Mexicans, you must leave all that behind and adopt our Arizona ways. I'm as sick of seeing your Cowboys plate frames as I am of seeing Radio Campesino stickers.

I like Phoenix and that is the point of my thread. This is contrary to the Phoenix and AZ bashing that abounds on ths BBS.

As for heating things up. I can't take credit for that. There is just a relatively higher energy level in this particular forum.

BTW I also like Tucson and southern AZ - esp the area between Tucson and Patagonia.

LOL that's so true. They're such fanboyz they've become delusional and live in their own little utopia, totally oblivious to the real world.
