Let me set the record right here and now. I know cold sucks. My point was I think its too hot too early. I thought we had another 3 weeks until we hit 100. Seems to me we only had 4 months of good weather this year. Good weather being below 85 degrees IMO December, Jan, Feb, and March. I thought this paradise we live in got 7 months a year of dreamy weather and 5 months of hell.

Pollen in Phoenix - Allergies to Pollen
If you are buying a home in the Phoenix area, you might want to avoid planting the following trees if allergies are a concern. Likewise, if you are an apartment dweller, it may be important to find out what those trees are outside your balcony before you sign a lease and find out they are olive trees!
African Sumac
Arizona Ash
Arizona Cypress
Arizona Sycamore
Canary Island Date Palm
Chinese Elm
Cottonwood
Desert Broom
Desert Fan Palm
Feather Palm
Hackberry
Juniper
Mesquite
Mexican Fan Palm
Mulberry
Oak
Olive tree
Palo Verde
Pecan
Pepper Tree
In addition to trees, try to avoid all grasses. Put in desert landscaping instead of grass. Make sure you attack weeds quickly as they sprout, which they will even in desert rock. Better yet, use a pre-emergent to kill them before they grow. Tumbleweeds may be fun to look at, but that Russian Thistle should be avoided if you have allergies.

Note: we've had ideal weather since November, thats nearly 7 excellent months of great weather. The warm temps are arriving at the normal time for the desert areas this year. Everyone is spoiled cuz we had a relatively long cool period this season and then the normal temps started to come along and now you get a heat shock.

I've always been fascinated by Phoenix. Growing up in GA I hated the summers so much. I've always felt sorry for people in Phoenix when I hear on the weather report how it would be 110 in the summer. Oh those poor people bless their hearts. Why are they moving out to the heat? Now that I've spent what some actually called a "mild" winter in the DC area I can see why so many people move out there. I hated the cold nothing I've never experienced but day in and day out? Boy oh boy! I'm a notorious summer hater but now I'm like bring it on! Although yeah hyperactive acs can be a pain. I remember one job I had where it was summer time 90 something degrees outside and I wore a coat to work every day and actually spent all my breaks outside in the heat. I didn't stay at that job very long.

Now you can quote me saying I said bring on summer. Of course I will be complaining about the summer a month from now and begging for winter. I think at the end of the day everyone has to complain about something especially the one thing we can't do anything about, the weather.

This weather right now is hardly hell. In fact, I was just thinking how nice it is as I was sitting outside this morning having coffee and how it's been great for countless days since October. I mean there have been maybe 200 BEAUTiFUL days between then and now. Where you're longing to be there have been maybe 10. I appreciate we are all wired differently, but I don't get what you are complaining about.

well, I was in a different October than you because there were several days close to 100 degrees, Nov was in the 90s, December dropped to the 80s.

Where Im longing has at least 90 days of nice, 200 days of tolerable, and about 70 days of "get me outa here" weather BTW, but that a story for another thread. I would say that this area (the Valley) has 150 days of OUCH!!! about 60-90 days of YUCk, and about , and 130 -155 days of Ahhhhhhhhh nice!!!

Yes I admit openly that I am complaining....thats why I started the thread because I wanted to complain about the weather.

I get what you're complaining about! Once it starts to get above 100 I feel yucky!

Digging trenches in 108 degrees sucks too! Working outside in any weather sucks Leprich Sean!
Too cold, too hot, it doesn't matter. People go to the hospital here every year with heat exhaustion from working in this heat.

My wiring gets short here in the summer as well Foreverking! I've only experienced "Flagstaff" winters though, I'm not sure if that classifies me for knowing what cold weather is like but it was much better for me up there. A couple of gloves, big coat, and boots. Aw, nice! A little hot coco and a fire place to thaw! Loved it!

The only time I love the summer heat here is in the early morning around 5 or 6 am. Then it feels great.

I do wish our "good weather" fell during the summer months after school was out and flu season was over. Thats my only "true complaint" about it. Otherwise you pay some sort of weather related price anywhere you live, don't ya? Even Southern Cal has the old earth quakes and fires. Although not exactly "weather" it is reported on the Weather Channel. lol

I'm going to get on outta here one day and experience the "hate cold" payment. See if I complain more or less! ha ha I'll let ya know one day!

We definitely are all different. I would not qualify a full 5 months of the year as OUCH by any stretch of the imagination. I unscientifically vote about 30-45 days (give or take depending what we get dealt in a particular year) of yuck (any days in winter below 60 and days in summer over 110' once humidity is a little higher) and 320-335 days ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!
