It says the source for the info is 2003 FBI figures. Not very current info.

another cool website
Arizona Local Crime Map, Crime Statistics and Real-Time Alerts
I love the format of this one with the icons to represent each type of crime. And it's pretty darn up-to-date because there were a few prominent crimes near where I work lately, and both appeared in this database within days. The only drawback is, sometimes an area has so many crimes that you have to zoom into a closer level to see the real extent of the crime, because seemingly the icons are too large to fit within the frame, and some of them overlap. So, you need to keep zooming in and refreshing the window to get a true idea.
One important thing I've learned in using the website is that there don't seem to be many places in the Phoenix Metro area that are free from crime. Everyone talks about Maryvale(or they used to) but it's really not that much worse than anyplace else in Phoenix. And Scottsdale may not have the shootings that take place in northwest Mesa, yet it still has plenty of burglaries and assaults. Short of surrounding your house with barbed wire, I don't think there are many places you can hide in Phoenix.

I like Weroses because you can compare it to other cities. I think that was the point. And wow, what a point it is! 2003 or not, it can' t have changed as dramatically as would need to make that much of a difference.
Thanks for this post, always good to have! It's really easy to read, and nice to be able to compare stats.
